Default Houston, Tx area road course - play day

San Jacinto Corvette Club is hosting a "Driver's Education"/ Play Day at the new GrandSport Speedway in Hitchcock, TX on Oct 14. It's a fun course with straights connected by technical turns. Check out the video at www.grandsportspeedway.com it was filmed before the curbs were added. You can get a flyer from "what's happening in Houston" thread under the southwest section of the regional forum, from www.sanjacintocorvetteclub.org or e-mail me. we're going to limit the number of cars to sixty so if you have any questions e-mail me and get your registration in

We need more tracks in Texas
I just wish someone would build one further West. I can make Dallas in 5 hours. Houston is 9 hours (depending on traffic )

There's plenty of land out here. Just not as many people as DFW or Houston (thank God).

Sorry if I didn't see your e-mail, I seldom ever miss replying, apologize again. This is the best track surface in Texas but is still some what green. Most will be running street tires, some Nitto 55 series, and DOT autocross compound, but no slicks as yet. We have a NCCC 14 event autocross scheduled for Oct 26-28. Next year we are planning on re-establishing the old Corvette Porsche Challenge. All of the rain this year has delayed the track completion and David is looking forward to starting the second half of the course which will give a 2.5 mile course. Let me know if I can answer anything else.

Pretty cool to see a track built there. I won quite a few shifter kart races at the kart track there.

Kuhmo, BFG, Yoko, DOT autocross compound will be allowed, but not any of the Hossier or Goodyear big "slicks" Just returned from meeting with the track superintendent, track surface is really nice and they are getting ready to do a seal coat and build the curbs if it will stop raining. We'll have the track ready for the 14th. Hope you can make it.

Default Grand Sport Speedway

You gonna bring out the Speed Vision cars eh? Well, I guess I better tune on the white C5 and see ya out there!
On the way down to Galveston last weekend I swung by the track and i was able to go around the track and it really looks great, love the slightly banked turns. On the Grand Sport web site I see where they are having an open house on Spet. 30th, lead follow etc. That's a good deal as it's for everybody, unlike MSR Houston, where the only way I got on that track opening weekend was with the Porsche club.
I'll be signing up with the San Jacinto Corvette club to do Oct 14th and I''ll be also signing up for their autocross/"play day" Oct. 26-28. This is really great track and surpasses MSR, especially after they finish the longer track. can't wait, see ya out there.

Hey GS023... thought that you had the regional "throw down" Then again I know you'll be too tired from the car show and rallies on the 13th to come south. See you on the 26th?

JVettHead - check out www.sanjacintocorvetteclub.org calendar for Oct 26-28 we're hosting a NCCC event at GS track and there is a play day on the 26th. San Jac and Lone Star Porsche club use to have a Corvette/Porsche day, and I'm trying to get it back on track for nest Spring. We'll have a lot of track days coming up.... so, stay tuned.
