ALMS Aston Martins
I'm not a regular ALMS fan, but tuned into Lime Rock this past weekend. Where did the Aston Martins go?
I'd like to go to Mid-Ohio to watch the Corvettes, but if there is not class competition...its not a race.
thanks.

To my knowledge, the Aston's haven't competed in the ALMS this year at all. They competed against the Corvettes at Le Mans, but that is the only time they've gone head to head this year.
Corvette hasn't had a competitor all year, but themselves.

Yep, Astons haven't been in the ALMS, except for Sebring (first race of year, and that was a privateer Aston.
There are rumors of them possibly returning later in the season, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The Aston Martin automobile company was sold off from Ford early this year. So that put a damper on any AM racing. However, it was ProDrive and AM Racing that purcshased AM from Ford.
It did take several months to get the funding in place from Saudi and Texas investors. Plus AM has a Forumula 1 space for 2008.
That being said, GT1 class will see some changes over the winter for next year. With all this happening might be the reason why we did not see AMR in the ALMS.

Only rumors. Combination of GT1 and GT2, More power to the GT2s, 997s and F430s, GT cars bases on real poduction cars, converted, not frame rails built into a race car ie more like the ZO6r.
Plus in 2010 LM prototypes based on more of a manufacutres production cars. Not to mention hybrid technology coming in to power these cars.
and ppl think F1 has a silly season
