Default Write a letter - save the NCM HPDE program

I think it's generally a good idea to "strike while the iron is hot" - so here goes - as it was mentioned at the VIR event this past weekend, for those of you who HAVE attended one of the National Corvette Museum sponsored HPDE's or anyone who would LIKE to attend in the future...let's get this moving forward!

Showing our collective support for these events, the safe manner they are conducted, and the overwhelming positive comments that come as a result of these events is needed NOW if these events are to continue for any of us.

Obviously you can write whatever you want to...but it is hoped that those who see the positive value in these events and how it can benefit current and potential Corvette owners as well as the Museum will voice those sentiments to the Museum director and the Museum board members and encourage them to allow these events to continue and grow.

Here's the Museum director's address:

I dropped mine off at the post office on the way to the fireworks on the 4th.

I'd also like to ask everyone to consider becoming a member of the museum, and mentioning the HPDE when you do so - that $end$ a $trong me$$age, too.

Wendell Strode, Executive Director
National Corvette Museum
350 Corvette Drive
Bowling Green, KY 42101

Dear Mr. Strode:

As a life member of the National Corvette Museum, I am writing to thank you and the other staff and board members of the Museum for your support of the recent NCM HPDE @ VIR. I believe these events epitomize the essence of why the Corvette is America’s Sports Car and have the potential to dramatically increase awareness and appreciation of both the car and the Museum.

These events also exemplify and reinforce the camaraderie that is a cornerstone of the Corvette lifestyle, and offer an exciting experience for all attending, whether they are driving, accompanying a driver, supporting the event, or just observing.

I hope the Museum will continue and expand its support for this kind of event as a way to serve both the Museum and its members, current and prospective.

Sincerely,

J Lawrence Buell iv

Good move! Most all of us enjoy instructing these events as much if not more than the particapants that we work with in them. My personal belief is that with the ever increasing performance potential of these cars instruction in all aspects of driving them is key for safety and enjoyment. NCM HPDE's are key to this and key to keeping Corvettes in the hands of educated, safe and effective drivers. This can further solidify these cars as benchmark standards in the industry. The old adage "wins on Sunday, sells on Monday" comes to mind. In this case, not refering to racing, but simply to spotlighting the capability of these cars in a proper drivers hands, it simply gets the results and info out there!

A few of the GM engineers / designers were "surprised" that a vehicle and be so fast at the track and still be such a streetable vehicle.
