video-minor incident at VIR
I don't know who this is, but I don't think it was serious, so I thought I'd share. Sorry for the poor quality, but I was riding with another instructor and had my video camera in my hand.
Anybody want to fess up????

Yep!!! I had a front row seat for that one. I was driving the yellow Z (#97) right behind the car that spun. I has having some brake problems with my @#$%^&* Carbotechs (judder from uneven pad deposits on the rotors) so I pointed that guy by between T10 and T11.
He just got into 11 way too hot. If you notice, I judiciously held back at 11 to see what would transpire. Once he started to slide, it was obvious there would be no recovery.
Looks like he just kissed the tire wall. I don't expect the car suffered any damage.

Thats Awesome! That was also me! Yes, I should have never taken that pass. Spun sideways which was inevitable and felt like I would have stopped square in the middle of the track so I gassed it at the last second to get off track (and into the tire wall). You were right - just kissed it so no damage. I've got to figure out a way to save that video. I'll post one later of one of my "better" laps.
That was nothing compared to Wed. Three cars (none of them me) into tire walls. Two likely totalled. An E46 M3 into wall with passenger. Second was an instructor. Tire wall in esses in older 944 *** back. I think possibly totalled as well. Last was a vette that went off in 5 and hit full side on into the "viper magnet" couldn't believe 3 off in one day with significant damage.
Anyway good video of a stupid move. Still here and having more fun.
By the way, nothing overcomes the laws of physics - I was running with AH on (comp mode).

I wouldn't care if it was me I would like to see it. Some others may not like to see themselves posted and asking to confess.

My experience is that as you gain experience and confidence at a track, you will easily get into that zone where you are within your limits, and the car's limits, but outside what A-H deems acceptable, even in Competitive mode. At that point, the inputs from the A-H system can be dangerously upsetting to both car and driver. In addition, the way A-H works the brakes to control the car can cause severe and uneven brake wear.
I know that this weekend, my first at VIR, I didn't feel A-H in the first session, but after that it would start kicking in within a lap or two, and I'd have to turn it off.

Think that short straight was a passing zone. Might have helped if the car that gave me the signal backed off a bit (edit - driver did back off but I just was too hot into corner and too late in starting pass which left me with my *** hanging out there - it was all my doing) but it was 100% my responsibility for taking it. Oh well. No harm no foul and from the looks of the video I didn't even need to worry about getting off track. Unlike me, guys behind me were in control and in no risk of t-boning me. I was the only dummy.

I did the same thing at almost the same exact spot when we were there with the Porsche club in Dec. I lost it about 25 feet before that wall and luckily was able to drive around the backside of the tree without touching anything. But damn, it's bumpy back there.

Sorry for the "batman-esque" camera angle. Chase cam and no way to test position until you take compact flash card out, put in PC, view, go back adjust, re-test etc.....
