Even w/ a stock hood it still gives the air somewhere to go. Anyone else do this? I have a DRM vented hood, but I figured more is better.

The WC guys that actually went to the wind tunnel (I was never invited) said that the cowel is acually a high pressure area, and you may end up actually pumping more air into the engine bay. This is only word of mouth, but that is what the guys at 3R (the hot Corvette team back in 03') told me they found at the tunnel.

Which was the whole principle behind "cowl induction," right? Still, I would think that any airflow increase under the hood would help. If air goes in there, it must come out somewhere.

Hmmm... I did notice the hood buffeting at speed... even w/ the vented hood.

I'm going to leave it in next tack event.

If you open the cowl, and it is a higher pressure area than under the hood, air will go in there. While it would cool down the fire wall area it will raise the pressure under the hood and will increase front end lift and reduce air flow through the radiator.

If you have a vented hood, it will circulate air from behind the hood and also reduce the flow of air from the radiator...

Not a good idea at all...

In a best case scenario, you would have a completely sealed engine compartment, with only Radiator air coming in the front, and then being evacuated directly out through a louvered hood. Of course, in the real world air spills out under the engine, out of the fenders, etc etc.
