SPEEDTV - F1 USGP Special: Drivers = Articulate Models
SPEEDTV could be on to something with the format of their 'Inside
Grand Prix' F1 segment. This could bring them a whole lot of the other
side of the gender demographic, if my wife's reaction is any indication.
During race coverage, she is nowhere to be found. However, when
I tuned into the rebroadcast of the IGP segment last night, she must
have caught sight of the screen and been drawn in by the sight of
drivers on stage interacting with David, Peter, Steve, Sam Posey
et al.
As driver after driver appeared, she made herself more comfortable.
She was heard to say more than once: 'that guy looks like a model.'
She was dissing D Coultard's on-stage 'do' and commenting about
how much better he looked in the garage snips that were aired.
I know the NASCAR guys get such exposure all the time but I don't
recall seeing something like this for F1 before - true?
Somehow my better half doesn't get worked up at all by Jimmy Spencer,
Darryl, Jeff G, Little E. or the other 'ole boys. But the F1 guys made
her sit up and take notice.

I have never seen anything like it for F1. I only caught the last part of it but I thought it was pretty good and certainly better than the normal, dry interview that F1 drivers usually give. I give credit to SPEED for getting some exposure for the North American audience so that they may actually get more involved with F1.
Hah, imagine that, a female not getting worked up about Jimmy Spencer. You know it's time to stop racing when you weigh as much as your car. Spencer should have never started.

Really guys. We are in danger of losing the USGP, due to lack of interest., Therefore, Tony George has pulled out ALL the stops (including paying drivers to appear on TV) to get some attention for his race. It's called "cost of doing business" , as Michelin found out last year.

"SEX SELLS" It is the first day of marketing class. Then the 2nd day they talk about the 5 Ps. Well to make a long story short. Everyone knows how diehard fans of F1 are! There is a major problem, getting the rest of the people hooked. Nascar really paved the way of marketing in all other forms of motorsports. They got the wifes to watch also, by showing off MAN sex. Next thing you know, they sold two seats unstead of only one. Woman shop, they buy all sorts of things (non-needed items, most of the time) companies pay big money for people to buy their products or services. In the future you will see a lot more man sex in motorsports, you know the girls of motorsports will always be nice marketing tools also!!!
Do you see the wild-fire they have made? I personally think it's great. How many more kids do you see at the kart tracks!!! The next breed of drivers will for sure push the limits that is a fact.
Randy
PS Spec body in F1? That is the day I will never care about F1 again!!!

Yeah, I thought it was great . Is there a real problem w/ Alonso and Lewis??? Speed tried to downplay the fact that they were the only team to be interviewed seperate "because of travel problems" but Lewis came on immediately after Alonso.Wt?? Eurosport reported that Alonso felt the English team celebrated more for Lewis's victory in Canada than his and he was uncomfortable.......whaaah!!

Lesseee.........Hamilton started from the pole in his last two races, won in Canada, and may win tomorrow, is leading the championship, and has never finished lower than he qualified. Can you say "The NEW Tiger Woods"? Maybe Hamilton will have the same impact on American race fans that Tiger has had on golf fans?

Well, just don't say it to his face.

.
While some may see him as the racing equivalent of Tiger Woods,
as a black man about to break out into a sport long dominated by
whites, his parents actually named him after Carl Lewis, the Olympic
gold medalist in sprinting and long jump.
"It sounds pretty cool. People have been saying it for a long time,"
Hamilton said. "But I'm not Tiger Woods. I'm Lewis Hamilton."
The quote above no longer appears in the current version of theas a black man about to break out into a sport long dominated by
