Default Traqmate Video System Installation in a C5

I purchased the Traqmate Complete Video Bundle for my C5 coupe to capture data and combine with in-car video from HPDE sessions.

Where are the best places to mount the Sensor Unit (SU) and Display Unit (DU) in the C5/Z06? Please provide pics if you have them.

Thanks

In my old c5 i used to remove the temp contol buttons on the air conditioning and velcro the DU to that area, then remove when im done.

On my new track car I have no radio, so there is a blank plate there and i mounted it to that with the mounting bracked from traqmate

The traqmate data unit is mounted in the back under my roll bar. Its mounted with industrial velcro to the carpet in case i want to move it.

The antena works fine mounted in the car. I used to tape in on the inside of my trunk lid. Now its mounted to my rollbar.

I dont have the video unit yet, but plan on purchasing it shortly. I was thinking of permanetly mounting it in the back of the car in one of the cubbie holes.

Im interested to see how you get it mounted and like using it. Im looking forward to getting it put it.

I use a little vent visor mount with a flat plate and stick tape it there. The main unit is mounted behind me, in the center with velcro - sticks great to the carpet.

Did you ever use the data module? I havent installed it yet - I need to get sensors for the throttle etc.

What did you use the data module for, if at all?

TraqMate works great! I collect the following information: MPH, RPM, G-Forces, GPS Location Tracking and Best Lap Times. I haven't added any additional sensors yet - may add Brakes soon.

Do you ever see issues with the GPS lock? Mine seems finicky with GPS.

No issues with the GPS. I'm still tweaking the RPM sensor input though.

Hmm ok maybe its my gps module.

For RPM, you need to use the 4cyl setting and then it will report properly. Mine is working fine. This is not a bug or anything - it was the same on my g2x actually.

Did you plug in a GRD wire into little sensor module that goes into the TraqMate or only the RPM signal wire? I had both a GRD wire and RPM signal wire added for the sensor module - wasn't sure if I should connect both or not.

You only need the rpm wire because its already grounded through the power wires. I actually asked this question to traqmate and this is how mine is set up.

If you did connect the GRD and you are having problems, I wonder if you are getting a ground loop and thats whats interfering with the signal.

BTW, how/where did you mount your GPS module?

Sweet. Dont forget to post some vids!

Have you seen any corvette-based dash overlays for the trackvision video? I was thinking of making one. Do you use trackvision? It integrates fairly nicely with the chasecam and traqmate stuff. I've been playing with it recently.

Absolutely! Yup, I use Trackvision - it really brings the track sessions to life after an event. Family and friends think its the coolest thing. I haven't seen any Corvette style dash overlays. That would definitely be cool! Please send me the dash overlay file if you're able to make one.

Ok will do. I havent looked into it deep yet but I think there is a small amount of programming which may make me decide to flake off and not do it. If I do get one made, I'll share.

Do you know a source for high quality images of the z06 dash? Thats where I have to start.
