Driving 30min on the highway w/ V710s ok?
Just curious... I'm going to be putting on my track pads and tires tonight. Borrowing my buddy's trailer and truck setup so I was going to get it and bring it back to my place Wednesday or Tursday to load up.
However, if I needed to drive the car out to his place to load up would that be ok on the V710s or would they heat up enough to waste a heat cycle?

I would say no to the heat cycle. From my experience it takes a lap driving hard to get good stick. I have driven the first lap under caution before (highway speeds but with more corners) and the tires did not get good stick. If you take it easy nothing should be wasted.

^ True... that would indeed suck. But I'm going to drive around my neighborhood and bed in my pads tonight on the V710s... maybe I should just leave my track rain setup on (oem wheels w/ GY SCs) and just put the track wheels/tires on at the track on Friday evening.

I wondered the same thing when I ran the G19's up to the gas station. BTW Brian, do you have any gas cans or are you gonna fill up at the pricey VIR gas pump? I won't be bringing my street tires and I only have small gas cans.

I've placed a lot of street miles on a set of 710s in the past, no ill effects with respect to heat cycling. They will pick up nails, screws, dead animals and anything else in the road......just make sure to avoid any construction zones.

id say drive it with street wheels...whats it worth you to? 1) street wheels/tires, then change them once at home, or 2) v710s, pick up a nail, and then have no slicks for next weekend!!

I drive on mine. Sometimes 90 to 140 miles each way. Not in the rain though.
All the flats I have had in the last 10 years were from crap I drove over in the pit lane.
If you get them hot enough to heat cycle on the street, I would worry about maybe loosing your license.

I used to drive up to 75 miles each way on my 710's and now I trailer in fear of cutting a tire at the track and not having a ride home that day. I never had an issue when I did drive them on the street.
