Default Here I go again.......again!

My last "new" 99,000mile motor for ST2. Upgrades (longevity) include new style rod bolts, JWIS timing chain, shimmed oil pump etc. You can see my ATI damper, Katech tensioner, heat-wrapped starter, aluminum motor mounts (solid), accusump fitting, and straps for torquing the damper. I also wrapped the rear header just to protect the wiring. Just thought it might be interesting to anyone that hasn't pulled one of these apart.

Hopefully this one will survive more than one race!

What happened to the old motor? Did it go bye bye?

When I ran the car at Rd Atlanta, the trans locked in 3rd gear during Sundays race. I ran the engine REALLY hot, but it never showed any signs of damage. I think I likely did some damage at that point, but it didn't show up until after race 1 at Roebling. By the time I ended the 2nd Roebling race, the exhaust was dripping oil and water and fuel, and my #8 cylinder is completely dead. I haven't pulled the heads to see what actually broke, but I figure it was at least both head gaskets plus some more major pieces (piston maybe) in #8

this car will be luck if the PAINT gets washed, let alone anything under the hood. The INSIDE of the engine is clean.....and that's the only part that counts for me.

Yea, it lost part of #7 piston at VIR during the March race. It was still running with no noise, but it sure was down on power. Luckily, I still placed 2nd at the end of the race.

5/8" spacer with ARP wheel studs up front, factory rear

Are you guys running your motors too lean? Not running some 100 octane to keep 7 from going lean?

David, did you ever need to remove the heads? I'd be curious to see some pics with them off...

Thanks!
