BBS may go under

they need to start building their wheels in China, like everyone else, and they will be fine.
They certainly can't charge any more than they already do (for consumer products, that is)
Seriously, it would be a shame.

Where do you get the idea that they are going to fold? The article states nothing of the sort. Just because they are having financial issues and are obviously for sale does it mean they are going to fold. Quite the contrary, since it is states they have received many bids.

They already do. In so many ways. Companies like Cisco Systems can't move their engineering over to India, manufacturing to China fast enough. So the cheap manufacturing to China and the Hi Tech stuff to India. That leaves us to be greeters at Wal-Mart.

Oh boy, another one of these threads...
Well I'll jump in the fire too.
It is not just manufacturing going to Asia for cheap labor. It's also services too! One of our vendors recently moved a support center to India. Supposedly mixed with Australia and US and India they are now giving us better service 24x365. Since that is what our support contracts entail. Well funny enough all of a sudden I don't get calls from the support center in the US or Australia. They all come from India regardless of what time of day. They are 1st level support now. So we're going to get our azzes kicked by cheaper labor doing the service side too!
China and India are doing to Japan what it did to us years ago. As soon as someone can find another 3rd world country that can do it for less than China they'll get the boot too.
China will improve their quality just like Japan has done since their earlier days of invading our market. Then we'll hear the complaints that the stuff from Bangladesh or whatever is junk compared to the higher quality from China. And on and on it goes. Ya gotta love this Global Economy thing...
We better find a way to do it better and get back in the game. Before we are all fighting over that WalMart greeter job.

We can’t blame anyone else but ourselves. Then again there is always the government , but that’s a whole other thread. By the way I think this topic might have gotten a little side tracked from the original post. Some body will buy BBS, then down size the German factory and expand the China facility. I the future the Germany factory will have only two operations, first will be install valve stems and the second will be mark the rims made in Germany.

Well not to throw a little lighter fluid on the fire or anything but one reason that BBS is having problems is there distribution network. They don't have as many distributorships like the rest of the wheel manufacturers. One of the few places you can buy BBS is from Tire Rack. If they were made more available to some of the different independent sellers then they would sell more.
