Woman Survives Internal Decapitation
Does the removal of the halo mean that the skull has reattached to the
spine? I wasn't aware this could happen (perhaps nature does not get
that many opportunities to try) but the article does not mention surgery
to fuse skull to spine.

action to stabilize her head with her hands. If correct, this must
have been painful, frightening and fraught with danger.

I thought basal skull facture was the result of 5 point harnesses, and a heavy helmet. appearently any impact can have the same result, seat belt or no.
So time for a head-neck restaint
and they don't even mention "basal skull facture"
they call it "internal decap"
It must be the same.....

Less than four months ago (Jan 25),
I have not seen any mention of family, other than the woman's mother.
Different surnames suggest the recovering woman may be married,
perhaps a mother, herself. Whatever the reasons for her determination
to pull through, my vote is society ought to applaud her courage and
be supportive. Look past the vessel, consider the contents.
How do you feel about Niki Lauda? Alex Zanardi?
I look at this woman, along with people like Lauda, Zanardi and others
and only hope that if I ever find myself faced with similar circumstances
that I can rise to the challenge as they have done.

"I had a fractured skull, swollen brain stem, bleeding in my brain,
GI tube in my stomach, can't swallow, and nerve damage in my
eyes (because they cross)," said Malloy.
Doctors are working on that but she has been lucky enough to
get the halo removed.
Give her another twelve months and see what progress she makes.GI tube in my stomach, can't swallow, and nerve damage in my
