Not one, but two NASCAR Nextel Cup stars will drive in the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway this month. Woodhouse Performance have announced that Evernham Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne will drive the No. 13 Dodge Viper in Charlotte . This follows the announcement in March that defending NEXTEL Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson will drive a Cadillac CTS-V at the same event.

That would be so fun to see! As he said, he is doing it to improve his road course capabilities, and maybe we can dream that NASCAR will add a road course event to the schedule. I have an idea: Have the 1st Nextel race at NHIS be the oval like it is now, and the second in the Fall use the road course (roval). Same crowd, and they could actually add seats to sell in the back section. Of course, expanding the road course section at alot of these tracks would be welcome for us mortals as a side benefit. Sounds good, but I fear this would have as much chance of happening as Halle Berry being my student at the next SCDA event at NHIS!
