Source for stick on numbers....?
I've seen some pics of vettes with numbers on doors etc. Recognizing those can't be magnetic, someone have a recommendation for a good source for some kind of temporary numbers for DE events etc.?

I found plenty of high-quality vinyl numbers at our local motorcycle shop (cycle gear, Raleigh).
Tip - if you want to re-use the vinyl numbers, carefully remove them from the vehicle and place them, sticky-side down, on a piece of parchment paper, keeping dirt off the sticky side. Store the paper in a flat, dry spot.

Check out KARKARE.com on the web. They sell vinyl stick on numbers and letters for car dealers. They have a number of sizes and styles ane are very reasonable --- about 1/4 the cost of solotime numbers. You can buy a dozen for about $8.00 and shipping. I reuse mine 2-3 times before trashing them.

Last outing my Solotime numbers had run their course. They are good quality, but a pain to put on for HPDE use. I was out of time to re-order, so I went to WalMart and purchased medium adhesion repositionable contact paper. I used my Solotime numbers as a layout and cut several sets. They go on easy and stick well. It leaves no residue on the paint. I highly recommend it. Takes just a couple of minutes to put them on. peel right off.
The plus side is I have enough material for dozens of number sets for less than the cost of shipping letters.

Solotime has some good stuff but it's pricey. One thing they mention on their site is that you need different types of material for autocross and for track use.
Typical autocross numbers are static-cling and they work well for a long time. The major drawback to them is the possibility of them coming loose and off at high speeds. Autocross speeds don' get terribly high so static cling works fine.
For track days, they recommend removeable adhesive number sets. These will hold on but you only get so many uses before the adhesive material starts to lose its effectiveness.
Here's a couiple of other places to look:

Is there a sign or graphics shop in your area? I went to my local sign shop and got a set made up for my 87 in static cling for less than $40. It was 3 simple 8" high numbers and two 5" high letters in black on a clear background. I couls have chose from a wide variety of colors and almost any Windows Tru-type font. Took 3 days from order to on pickup.

UPDATE !!!! Avery Label numbers are a really BAD idea!! I tried one on my pickup and it took 1/2 and hour to get it and all the adhesive off. Don't do it. But, it wasn't a total waste. I stuck my avery numbers on some repositionable shelf paper as was mention in this thread and now they work fine.

I've bought from Izoomgraphics.com twice. Very pleased with the service. Call and talk to Scott on the phone. Get the reusable vinyl track day set.

I bought a roll of Contact Paper online, printed numbers from the computer, then made a cardboard template. I've been using that roll for about 4 years and it's not even close to done. So cheap and easy to use, I just use them once and toss them. I can make a season's worth of numbers in about 10 minutes.

i bought three sets form them and they all work great. the re-useable ones work great as long as you keep them on the shiny paper they come on when not in use. I have had a set on and off the car three timesw and they still look great.

I've been using Ink Jet Sticker Project paper from Walmart. Made a power point slide of my numbers, print it on the 8.5X11 page in landscape, peel off the back, and stick the whole page on the door.
Peel off just as easy as going on.
Interestingly, they even held up during a recent rain day.
The wife thought they looked better in an oval so I've recently added an oval around the numbers which I use as a guide for cutting.
Probably a little more expensive than hand trace and cut from contact paper but very easy to do.
