I'm at VIR this weekend for the Suntrust VIR 400 for the Grand Am Rolex cup. My father does business with Suntrust and we are fortunate enough each year to get VIP passes to the race.
Tonight we got to have dinner with the Suntrust folks and the race team. The current drivers for the Suntrust team are Max Angelelli and Jan Magnussen.
Here's the car they pilot in the Daytona Prototype class.
I actually got to sit right next to Magnussen at dinner... it was truly a privledge. I tried not to be too star struck and found him to be very friendly and talkative especially when he found out how much my father and I enjoy road racing.

For those that don't know... he's one of the current C6R drivers... that's his main ride. He also ran that amazing 7.42 at Nurgburgring in a C6 Z06 street car.

Awesome!
At the Long Beach Grand Prix a couple weekends back I got to meet all the C6R drivers and have them autograph a poster. Very friendly group and it was cool to meet them all before the race.

I got to meet the C6R drivers at Sebring this year....actually had a chance to play "Adam Sandler Trivia" with Johnny O for about 15-20 mins while it was pouring outside. The best part is how down to earth they all are - no big heads and just all around nice guys.
Even max the axe seems to have a nice side to him ;-)

You will find that 90 percent of the road racers are pretty cool. The other 10 percent well The way I look at it is, when the toliet paper rips they get crap on their fingers just like everyone else.

I had a sausage biscuit with Jimbo Shaver this morning at the bait shop. He's a legend here and I know him on a first name basis.
Just kidding! Just kidding!
It'd be a real kick to sit and shoot the bull with someone like Magnussen!

Did anyone else see the houston coverage today when Duncan Dayton tried interviewing the Corvette guys? they poured water on him! I'll agree that theyre all great guys but vouch for Johnny and Ron the most. When I got to them at Lime Rock last year after a 50 minute wait in the autograph line they were just as pleasent and talkative, like I was the first one through.
