F1: McLaren Pledges Equal Treatment for Alonso, Hamilton

Ron Dennis - Racer Magazine
“We think our position is the right one,” he said. “Of course we want to win the World Championship, and we want to win both of them. But we have the young pretender and the double World Champion – and we owe it to both drivers to give them an equal opportunity. The only thing that would make life difficult would be if they started bouncing into each other, but the reality is that is not in their character.”

I'm super impressed with Lewis Hamilton...who could expected this type of maturity, professionalism, and outright speed out of a true rookie? I will not be that surprised if he continues to out-perform Alonso at certain tracks, but I have little doubt that Alonso's more intimate track knowledge (Hamilton hasn't driven on all the F1 circuits yet, despite his GP2 experience) will give him the nod at times during the season. It's giong to be a phenomenal F1 season!

I wouldn't call in a young "pretender", considering he's tied for the points lead after 3 races. Granted, a good race or two maybe, but 3 podiums in a row, leading laps in all 3...... I'd be carefull what I'd be calling this up and comer....might be the next Schumacher
