Default How to get those tires to the track?

New to Corvettes this season.

No truck in the family, but how are you guys getting those track wheels to the track when it's not around your area.

Is a hitch and a small trailer the way to go?

I'm even thinking of UPS to ship the wheels to a Hotel address.

Any other ingenious solutions?

I make my father go, he hauls everything for rides on the track. I even got him his own helmet.

if you're not going to tow the car, the car's got to tow the gear cause it ain't going to fit inside. I wouldn't want to UPS it to the hotel, shipping there and back 1 time would probably pay for the hitch and towing a utility trailer is a walk in the park.

It's finding the right trailer and than storing it most of the year that's the problem.

I use a Harbour Freight 4x4 utility trailer. Hauls 4 tires, 2 5gal gas cans, and big plastic tool box. The trailer fits in the garage against the back wall. The Vette fits in as well with about a foot of space behind the car when the garage door is closed. It is a tight fit!

This is the price we pay to have the goodies to play!

I was just about to do the trailer thing, but ended up with a truck and trailer for the car instead. Really nice, because if you break down coming or going to the track, you don't have to mess with the little two-wheel trailer.

If you go the hitch-on-vette approach, the harbor freight trailer is the way to cost-optimize. Be prepared to build your own deck and tire securing posts or rack. It was roughly 10x as expensive ($5000 vs. $500) to do the truck and trailer thing, for me, but it's a longer term solution. Good luck! BTW, if you need a hitch for a C5, I have one I'll sell ya!

On your car. I've been driving to all my autocross events on my Kumho V710's. I get about 150 laps, plus about 20 120 miles round trip drives on them.

It's not for my local track which is only 1/2 hour away, it's when I want to go cross country. I just can't see myself pulling that trailer for a day or two each way.

I'm going to price out the shipping option and just carry my tools in the car.

Check this out. Many people do different things to get their tires and cars to the track.

Holly smokes. Must be a Z06. I doubt the C6 roof can handle that. Still, very scary looking.

didn't the c6z's have problems with the roof flying off? the rack's pretty cool - just would be a bit worried about lift-off...
