Corvette heading to GT2 possibly!
GM has ask Pratt & Miller to look into creating a Corvette for GT-2 next year. They will also remainin GT-1. It was on the Speed Report this morning!

He also said they are still talking to IMSA/ALMS about running un-restricted this year

After this year's LeMans, what would be the point of C6.R even showing up, it's not like they are racing anyone in AMLS. Moving up to LMP or down to GT2 would at least get some racing going again-tho Doug and the boys really would be overkill in GT2

GT2 customer cars would be the way to go.
They could actually make money.
An LMP car would be provided they remember what they learned.
Duramax @ LeMans anyone?

The idea is to get the unrestrictive cars to run after they have clinched the manufactures championship.AUDI will be the huddle in getting a OK, since the Vettes just might match the Audi times on a long track. With approx 300-350 more HP and a 190 lbs less weight,it could be interesting.

Don't agree with the C6R running unrestricted.
If GM/PM want to play in the LMP1/LMP2 ranks, build a new ethanol (go green) GM/Cadillac prototype.
However, if nobody shows up in GT1, I agree with building a GT2 spec Corvette and pulling out of GT1. Not what I want to see happen, but..... I want Ferraris, Lambos, MC12s, Saleens, Astons, and all who dare to join up in GT1!

Without getting into specifics, T. Wallace said that the ACO/IMSA rules concerning GT2 would put the corvette at a disadvantage HP & weightwise compared to the P-cars and Ferraris.

I would bet there will not be a GT1 next year. If Corvette doesn't move to GT2, I would not be surprised if GM retired Corvette racing and looked for something else.

there are already C5.Rs and C6-Rs racing in the only three series that have GT1 classes for 07 (FIA GT, LMS, and French GT). This C6.R won the 1,000 km of Monza yesterday.
