Ultrashield Pro Road Race Seat Vs. Kirkey Intermediate Road Race Seat?
The Ultrashield - $333.55 for seat and cover
http://www.ultrashieldrace.com/prod.php?id=7
The Kirkey - $393 for seat and cover
http://www.kirkeyracing.com/
A local buddy of mine has the Ultrashields in his car... 17" w/ 20 degree layback. They fit me perfectly in his C4.
Any advantages to one over the other? I Like that they're under $400 being that the hardbar seat mount is pricey as well.
Thanks for any advice.

I just installed a Kirkey Deluxe Road Race seat. Super comfy, a very high quality piece.

OK now I'm confused... can I order the Ultrashield in 1/2" increments or 1"... some sites show it 1" and others 1/2".
The seat I sat in was 17" and fit great, but measuring my hips w/ boards I'm 16.5".

Not sure why it is taking longer than usual, but I ordered an Ultrashield seat and had it custom made to my dimensions a little over a month ago, and it was delivered to my door in just 3 weeks from the time I sent them my order. Very quick turn-around and very nice seat.

Just ordered an Ultrashield pro road race from Racer Wholesale (the link Tom posted). Ordered online but called in b/c the shipping price seemed excessive as the OSCommerce software they were using was calculating it as 2 45lb packages when the seat and cover will be shipped together and are far lighter. He told me the software works that way but I will only be charged for the actual shipping cost. He did say that it was still a 4-5 week wait for that seat.
Man I can't wait to finally run a track event in a decent seat and not be sliding all over... stock seats w/ harnesses still suck.

I have an ultrashield seat (deluxe road race) in mine and it is excellent. The option to get the seat custom fit is really nice too. The ridgidity of a solidly mounted aluminum seat is very confidence inspiring.

the adjustments, or the ones I did:
-where I wanted the seat.
-angle of incline.
-taking a dead head hammer and adjusting the shoulder wings and left rib support to fit me better.
-Putting additional support under my knees ( between the padding and seat) I used a round foam childs float toy, cut to fit.
Then putting it in, driving a while, readjusting, drive a while. It took me severl hours and two on track weekends to get the seat where I like it. But, now I just get in, strap in and drive.
