All times Central. Check your local listings for times in your area.

Saturday

Speed World Challenge (Tape Delayed Salt Lake City race) Touring Car 2:00 PM on Speed TV.

Speed World Challenge (Tape Delayed Salt Lake City race) GT 3:00 PM on Speed TV.

MotoGP Qualifying at Laguna Seca 8:00 PM on Speed TV.

Sunday

Champ Car at Edmonton 12:00N on CBS.

IRL at Milwaukee Mile 12:30 PM on ESPN.

MotoGP at Laguna Seca 4:00 PM on Speed TV.

There are also several other AMA races on Speed in the afternoon on Sunday as well as a couple of World Superbike races.

If you're a motorsports fan and haven't seen MotoGP, you should! It's just like F1 with close passing. American Nicky Hayden is leading the championship points coming into this race. The Laguna Seca race last year was the first MotoGP US race in 10 years and Nicky won it against champion Valentino Rossi.

You'll seriously be hooked. Because the motorcycles don't have any wings like the cars, they don't create any turbulence around them. They can ride within inches of each other at speeds over 200 mph and there is a lot of tight passing.

These MotoGP bikes are the motorcycle equivalent of F1 cars. They weigh about 320 lbs and put out 250 hp with a top speed of about 220 mph. These aren't production bikes or based off of a production bike. They are prototype bikes that cost in excess of $5M a piece.

Very exciting stuff, especially when an American is leading the series. I sure hope Nicky can win again this year because I love hearing our National Anthem played during the podium ceremony.

That wasn't Rossi. That was Randy Mamola. He's got a two-up Ducati GP bike that he takes VIP guests for rides on. I think that Schumacher was at the race as a guest of Rossi though. At the time, Rossi was still considering leaving MotoGP to take the second F1 seat at Ferrari. After some testing, he probably realizes that it would take a bigger committment than he realized.

Thanks to xsiveone for filling in during Joe's absence.

I don't express my appreciation often enough for the
service Joe (and now xsiveone) provides.

Stay tuned.

My whole crew is at a sports bar waiting to watch it on a big screen.

Even as much as I like NASCAR, televising practice is just too much. Somebody, somewhere, is racing something.
