Default building a track C5?

I'm looking at picking up the left over donor for a GTM build.

Assuming no engine, no front and rear suspension.

What's a WAG on the cost to get it ready for as a track only car.

Thanks,
Carl

I have been in discussion with Tom Wallace about building rollers. Many ppl have an interest. No decissions have been made.

Currently buying an existing slightly used T1 for 30-35 K is the lest expesive. Some T1s go as High as $50,000 for a build but never raced C6.

to take a current C5 or C6 and fully prep to race in SCCA T1 ~ $25,000. That does not include a new engine.

For SpeedWorld GT, I think LG said he would sell one for $185,000.

Or do you just want a vette to take to track days ???

I agree with Z11409. Spend $35K on a built car. Much better deal than starting from a shell and building up.

I'm looking to just take it to track days, run a few of the races like with OTR or other groups at Willowsprings or Buttonwillow. don't want to spend a ton, just would like to be reasonably safe. I was thinking that since most of the stuff coming off would be upgraded anyway....maybe it's an option.

Are you wanting to do DEs or actual wheel to wheel races? Worlds of difference between the two. DEs can be done with your street car; W2W you really can't.

Have a good one,
Mike

If or when the Rollers become avaible, it would still be less money to purchase a used T1 vette for $30-35,000, then buy a roller and finish.

The first FRC rollers that chevy made back in 2000, where just under 20 grand. To finish the car off for race prep those cars sold for $85,000 before they hit the track.

I already do DEs in my Viper. My buddy is building a GTM and the thought of converting his doner car got me thinking about making a dedicated car that I can do W2W at some of the events. Something that I wouldn't risk on my street car nor should anyone. It's just for fun. If the investment is too high it's probabaly not going to be done. I was just thinking that all I needed was a trick suspension set up, cage, wheels tires and brakes then an engine....maybe a transmission. I need to check the list of stuff that goes with the GTM.

Go to Hertz-rent as Mustang with ALL their optional insurance and just get out and flog it.The only thing that matters after a OTR,Speedventures event etc. is how big the smile is on your face.

Doesn't sound like you'll have much car left to work with...
Maybe if you find a wrecked donor in which the chassis is toast but everything else is ok. Sounds like a lot of work though
