Default NAPA Rotors

After seeing my first crack rotor this weekend (thanks Jim for cracking one for me ) I decided to buy a set of NAPA rotors as a spare set just in case.

Is the information below corect?
  1. 86700 front right rotor 18 lb, 14 oz
  2. 86701 front left rotor 18 lb, 10 oz
  3. 86702 rear left rotor 14 lb
  4. 86703 rear right rotor 14 lb, 4 oz

Part numbers are right, but the actuall weight is 17 lbs for each front and 11 lbs for each rear, or my scale is off.

My main concen was making sure that I dont mess up with left/right.

Is there a way to tell the difference by just looking at them?

I suspect the internal cooling vanes, but mostly I plan to just take them out of the box as I need to put them on the car and trust the part numbers. If I don't followup by mid-day tomorrow, ping me about it... I'm waiting on caliper brackets (and DRM cooling ducts) today before I can do the swap tonight or tomorrow morning.

Here's a tip for to help with the rusting on the NAPA hats. At the track, who cares, but some of us drive these cars on the street and don't want the nasty rusted look of the hats especially through C5 rims that show everything.

Lighty rough up the hats with some sand paper, tape around the edges of the hat and use 2-3 coats of high temp brake paint or grill paint. Both work fine and there are many colors to choose from. I go with simple gloss black and from a distance they look like 2 peice rotors. Anyway, this will keep the hats from getting completly rusted and looking like total garbage when you drive your car around town.

Usually I am not one for cosmetics, but this is easy, fast, cheap, and greatly improves the look of rotor.

Choose the cheapest ones listed...$16 I think. They are actually all the same...just a different label on the box. Virtually all of them from Rockauto are made in Canada...but different companies get them and put their own label on there.

In the end though, they are all the same...last the same amount of time...same weight, size, etc. The only real difference is the price!

When you purchase the NAPA rotors double check the pieces in the box before you leave the store. One time I found they put the wrong rotor in the box. The store guys will not be able to tell since all they know are the part numbers on the box and there is nothing on the rotor to indicate the P/N.
