Default Dumb question?

On the doors of the LeMans and ALMS cars are three lights. What do they indicate?

Additionally, is lighted the number panel electroluminescent? If not, how is it powered?

I'm a new fan and curious about these features.

Thanks for any info you can help out with.

They indicate their race position during the race.

To elaborate a little more; Each division (P1, P2, GT1, and GT2) has three lights on each side of the car, every division has its own color, I believe GT1 is green. If the car is in first for its class, it will have 1 light eluminated, if 2nd, then 2, and of 3rd, then 3. If 4th or worse, no lights are on. This is done so it is easy to see which car is which and what position it is at night.

I do not know about the number panel.

Number color on the white pannel is the same as the colorded lights

GT1 has Green numbers on a white pannel and green lights

AT LAST !! Thanks guys. This question has baffled me for about a year.

Now for the number panel power. Anyone know if it's el, or leds, or exactly how the lighting is powered?
