"The chassis is designed to accept twin turbo V-8's, as well as normally aspirated V-8 and V-10 engines.
Customer support from Riley Technologies, including an expanded parts division, will be available for the new Le Mans Protoytpe car.
The cost of the new Riley Mk.XIV Le Mans P1 chassis is $675,000, without engine and electronic systems. Delivery can start as early as November 2005, depending on order date. "

Not quite as strange looking as the Daytona prototypes. Is this the 1st step to merging the two series again in the US?
There doesn't seem to be as much talk about merging the two prototype> series as there is about needing to merge the two open wheel series.

I highly doubt the ALMS and GARRA will merge. The DP rules are fixed until 2010.
It is a fact that Champ Car and IRL are talking.

The following quote is taken from this Champ Car Article
Champ Car co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven was Indy Racing League founder Tony George's guest at the 90th Indianapolis 500 but it was all social and no business.
"I had a very good time, it was a great race and Tony was a very gracious host," said Kalkhoven, who got up at 4 p.m. in his San Jose home, flew to Indy and then jetted right back to California after the race.
Kalkhoven, who has been meeting with George for the past four months about unifying open wheel racing, had not been to the Indy 500 since Graham Hill's victory in 1966.

The fastest DP in qualifying last month Laguna Seca was the # 23 Porsche Crawford with a 1:25.014.
http://grandamerican.com/Events/Sess...?SessionID=663
The # 23 911 GT3 RSR had a qualifying lap at the same track last year with a 1:25.406

I'd love to see a Chevy-powered Riley LMP1.

Is wikipedia correct on this information?
"The LMP1s will also feature smaller rear wings in an attempt to slow the cars down. A key element of the 2010 LMP1 regulations is that the cars will have to feature design cues borrowed from a manufacturer's production cars, thus eliminating privateers and leaving LMP1 to be purely a manufacturers battle."

On a press conference, the ACO introduced today new specification for the LMP-Reglements of the coming years. Accordingly LMP1 with closed Cockpits should begin may in four years only at the Sarthe. The ACO hopes for itself officially in view of the participation standing in outlook by Audi, Peugeot, Porsche and Honda a higher sign identity of the vehicles if one binding purports the closed structure. Simultaneously the stern wings should by a standard-construction how it is presently in the FIA-GT in the circulation, in its effectiveness restricted become in order to limit the round times. The LMP2-Klasse is not concerned of these changes – here may begin also further open prototypes.

Lola reacted as one of the first manufacturers to the announcement of the ACO regarding closed prototype from 2010 and published today Renderings of the B10/10. At the same time it concerns already optionally offers the closed variant of the B06/10 already available today, the Lola. Lola-boss-engineer Julian Cooper means in addition: „We worked already already for some time at the Coupe-version of the LMP1-Lolas and trust on that that it is an interesting project for our existing and also for new customers. We would intend to spend further time in our wind canal in the near future and to push the development now more quickly because we had already inquiries for the closed version. It is obviously that the ACO more manufacturer in Le Mans in the future would like to see and we become then in the situation be, to offer an unfangreich tested and full developed Chassis.“
Presently the teams of Dyson (2 vehicles) and Chamberlain with LMP1-Versionen of the B06/10 are underway. Acura-Honda has a LMP2-Version of the Lola-Chassis for the next year in the USA geordert. There one vorhat to climb with the Evo-version of the Honda-motor long-termed into the LMP1-Klasse, would be allowed to be this the first speculative customer for the closed version of the Lola.

I like the DP engine rules, they should be used in more series, but those prototypes leave a lot to this person's eye
To square a roofline, to short in length.
Something like the old IMSA GTP cars now

The ELMS, the European Le Mans Series only lasted for one season, 2001. The Le Mans Series has the same cars as the ALMS, but with 1,000 km races.

You can make them just as fast with stock blocks, you just need to manipulate the rules for the complete package, then you'd have somthing that would be easier to sell to manufacturers. The Audi's are great cars, but have they really had any competition??

Dyson Racing won twice last year with their Lola and a Zytek 04S won at Laguna Seca. Panoz won a race in a few years ago.
