Default Schumacher "Blocking"?

What do you think of Michael "blocking" the track (pulling up at Rascasse on his final lap) to block the track and prevent Fernando Alonzo from turning a faster time for pole position at Monte Carlo?

Huh?

Don't click the link, if you don't want to, or read this post.

Schumacher has always cheated, and today he was his old "masterful" self.

Here's a link with a couple of videos, including one for You Tube.

Even the official FIA web site headline said: "Schumacher steals pole."

The topic, "Schumacher 'Blocking'?" is pretty self explainatory. I suppose Schumacher might be considering a career as an offensive lineman, but for some reason, that wasn't my first thought after reading it.

Welcome to F1, Welcome to the BIG LEAGUES.

Racing is far from the Green to the checked flags.

I think
  • MS had an excuse for what happened, although the in-car camera
footage doesn't lend 100% credence to his version of events.
  • If truly a gambit, it is an interesting, calculated move. The stats
given about winning Monaco from the pole make it clear how important
it is to be in the lead at the start. OTOH, if he's found to be guilty,
he loses all his qualifying times according to the announcers - I presume
he then starts at the back? Where better to take such a gamble than
the sunny principality by the sea?
All credit goes to Alonzo for retaining excellent composure in the
post qualifying interview.

Now, the question for me is how much resolve and independence
will the stewards or whoever decides such things display in deciding
the outcome for MS?

"All credit goes to Alonzo for retaining excellent composure in the
post qualifying interview."

I concur.

Martin Whitmarsh relayed Kimi Raikkonen's joking comments in an interview with Speed TV. “(Kimi) said Michael should have used his right hand and covered the camera while he did it.”

Posted on F1 Live is the rumor that the GPDA is considering kicking Schumacher out!

Michael says "the front end locked up"....did anyone but me notice that the front tires never stopped turning....or slid?

PLEASE do not put ANY information at ALL for ANY race.

You could have said:

Monaco GP Qualifying...

Ferrari's Qualifying Strategy at Monaco....even that one would be on the very edge of what should be allowed.

That leaves the choice to the reader if he/she wants to know what is posted before or after they watch it.

What you said is againt the rules above.

I was about 10 minutes into watching Q1 when I saw your post.

There has to be some kind of policy for this...its the second time in 2 weeks its happened. Not as bad as last weekends blabbing that Lou won the race a whole WEEK ahead of it being broadcast.

What royally sucks is its on CBS and those fools will just make this worse instead of fun.

The Speed guys this week were having a good time and I'll miss them tommorow. Anyone have Bernie's email address? I'm tired of sending hate mail to CBS, maybe I'll try him instead.

Watched the qualifying this morning. He did a brilliant job in taking the pole position.

This is going to be a good race. I can't wait to watch it and the indy 500. Good weekend for racing, good thing I mowed the lawn last night.

I thought Qualifying would be more of a 'mess' with the small track.

If Schumi gets away with this then Renault is going to be double pissed, they disqualified Fischi's laps for holding up Coulthard.

Its going to be a great race and a great post race interview which sucks because we won't get to see it.

Anyone know of some bars in Windsor open at 6am to see the race live on TSN?

Looked to me like he did it intentionally. I hope Alonso nails the start, beats MS into T1 and goes on to beat him.

If Alanzo had done the same to Schumacher - would response have been the same? Or are you one of the "schumacher is god" yahoos with a manlove crush on the guy. If you don't know if you qualify - heres a test for you:

Do you still honestly think Schummy is the best driver in the world?
even after 2 years of getting his doors blown off - all because the cars were equal for once!

If yes - you are an official schummy apologist - fact contrary to your admiration is simply ignored - I wish I could live in a world where I can dismiss any fact contrary to my personal beliefs!

There was smoke coming from his tires at lockup. I really don't think Michael would do such a potentially dangerous and also scandalous thing on purpose.

Make sure you watch Speed's coverage of the race, the Friday after tomorrow's live broadcast typically, their website will show the time. Speed's coverage is 10X better than CBS's.

Heres a solution for you - don't read this section of the forum before you watch the race! Of course that would require that you demonstrate self restraint - so I guess that out eh?

No problem - the rest of us will forstall all conversation until you give us the official OK - does that suit you?
Oh BTW - sam Hornish Jr. wins the Indy 500 - that ought to ruin your tommorrow!

Speed is airing their own (MUCH better) coverage of Monaco on Fri June 2 at midnight. Under normal circumstances, I sometimes skip CBS altogether and watch it for the first time on Speed, it is so much better.

Any substance to the thought that pre-Alonzo, MS's stardom would
have meant a free pass, while now that he is nearing the end of
his career and Alonzo is in ascendence, the outcome of the decision
is much more in doubt?

Kind of like Michael being in a power contest of a different kind.

Guys.........The intent of my opening this thread was to allow members to
A) Beat up on Michael, or
B) Beat up on the FIA
depending on your point of view.
There was no Option C.......so let's not beat up on each other

Now that we got that out of the way I am a Schumacher fan........BUT I think Schumacher's conduct is very unsportsmanlike AND "I hope Alonzo beats him at the start and wins the race".

Um, Boost.....the race is NOT carried live by CBS.....It's tape delay at noon.
