Grand Am Rolex at PIR
Hey folks,
After having moved out here to the Phoenix area, I decided to take advantage of seeing grand am up close at PIR and only having to drive about 45 minutes to do so. My buddies back east can appreciate a short drive to a pro RR event like this.
I went to the qualification day yesterday and met with some club racing friends that also do dome pro racing. While there, I met with Leighton Reese who is driving the Banner Engineering C6. Nice guy! He took me in the trailer and gave me some free stuff. We chatted about WCGT and Grand AM. His Rolex GT car looks very similiar to the WCGT car. Although Grand Am rules and regs are not favorable to the vettes from what I hear. He qualified middle of the pack and we know he's capable of better.
I'm posting Rolex GT qual times below. I'm heading back up today to see the race and won't ruin it - Don't worry I'll let you guys see the race delayed broadcast tommorrow
I might add they ran cup and Rolex same day! Got to see all the cars from ST to DP! That SunTrust car is one helluva piece!
