Brake Pad Change Out For Track Days
I run my 04 C5 at Texas Motor Speedway track days about 5 days a year. This is 130 mph + with lots of accelerating and hard braking. The NAPA ceramic pads I have are great for the street but I need more stopping power for the track.
I want to change out the ceramics for something better a few days before the drive to the track. It is 60 miles each way, so I can’t use a pure track pad.
I’d appreciate any recommendations for track/street brake pads and best prices.
Thanks

I'd recommend Performance Friction Z-Rated pads. They are pretty good at the track, plus I leave them on the car all the time, because they are a good street pad too.
You don't really want to change pads just before and just after a track day, do you? (PITA) What you really want is a pad that works OK on the street and the track, right?

I have tried PBR's, PF, Hawk, and nothing, I mean nothing compares to Wilwood H pads! It took me awhile for some people to finally convince me that the more expensive Wilwood pads would brake better, and be more economical in the long run, but once I made the switch I will never go back to anything else. My Z06 will now EASILY outbrake a Ford GT at over well 100 mph, no problem. They also last twice as long as any of those other pads I've tried too.
And, while I do not drive my car on the street, I'd have no problem using them as a street pad also...in fact, I'd insist on it! Wow, night and day difference!

Thanks Guys
Thanks for the brake pad info. You've given me a lot to think about. I love the first hand advice and experience I get from this forum.

I put on full race pads, Carbotech XP10/XP9 the day prior to track events and drive to the track. Sixty miles each way with R compound tires. No problems. Running track pads and R tires the 120 miles round trip is not an issue.

I have run lots of different brake pads.
Wilwood H & PFC-01s are my favs. Many ppl like the Hawks, blue, black or the new DT70s. Hawk HP or HP Plus are not for high speed braking.
Carbotechs xp10, xp11 or xp12s are very good pads too.
Race pads need their own rotors, so swaping rotors and pads would be a good idea.
With 130 mph top speeds and hard stops, double duty pads are not a good option. race dedicated brake pads.

The Carbotech dust seems to be the least corrosive, and if it takes you a few days to get back to your ceramics (as it always seems for me) you will appreciate that your wheels are not etched with dust.
