Default C5 Auto-x Help

Hi Everyone,

I recently made the mistake of putting 315/35/17's Hoosier A3S05's on my C5 Corvette Convertible for auto-x. The reason I say it was a mistake was that it instantly bumped me into ASP.

Only other mods are cold air intake and BMR sway bars. Car has been lowered on factory bolts.

Now I need to run significantly faster than all of my competitors to do well in pax. Are there any modifications that you can recommend now that I am in ASP to pick up some substantial time?

Buy a Z06.

Seriously, no non-Z06 C5 will do well in pax until you change the gearing. Just the facts of life.

If you want to go to the expense then you can make it competitive in SM2. IMHO

Not really an option buy I had considered a cam change to allow more RPM in first gear. I find I bump off the rev limiter on the courses we have locally.

I believe changing the cam will put you into SM2.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

But, one thing I know will help you is BRAKES. Install a set of Hawk HP+ pads. Bleed your fluid often. Change to SS lines.

Our rule book shows it as allowed but costs you 4 points.

I am running carbotech panther plus pads. They are great but dusty.

I would consider putting serious alignment into the car. ~-2 deg front -1.25 rear camber. This is cheap and will work wonders. This will still be quite streetable. See if you can add poly bushings at least in the lower front contol arms.
A really well driven stock Z06 is always a threat.

Did you notice much degrading of ride / harshness with those bushings in the front A-arms?

Yes, but for me it was welcome. For someone with stock suspension it may be objectionable. Mine do not creak or or grunt which may also be unusual.
If you AX or track often the lower stock fronts fail anyway.
