Check your wheels
Make it part of your track prep routine to check your wheels!
http://fasttechlimited.com/ccw.htm
Between this, the oil temps, and breaking the stock seat... it's going to be expensive to get ready for TracQuest over Memorial Day.
Edit: Actually the wheel didn't end up costing me a thing. Just got off the phone with John. (7:00pm and he's still taking calls) I can't say enough good things about John and his service. I have a new center on the way, courtesy of CCW!! See his post below! BTW, he could tell from the pictures that my used T1 wheels (new to me) were actually quite old based on a design change that was made many years back not to mentioned they've been raced on for years; he stands behind them, no matter what. Kudos to John & CCW!

Melting Slicks
Any chance that these wheels were powder coated????
Improper powder coating can anneal aluminum. CCW's are forged and heat treated, so they are relying on the the effects of heat treatment and forging for their strength. I would like to see somebody cut up the hub and do a pull test to determine the material properties of the wheel. I am also sure CCW would like to know that too....

Those wheels look like they have the anodized finish without any powder coat. Cracks like that are from an impact with a curb or similar condition. CCW now has his wheels 2 mm thicker to accommodate abuse. I have many thousands of miles on each of my two sets and all is fine. Cleaning and checking the wheels is part of proper track preparation.

Former Vendor
knowing who the wheels were made for originally would give an indication of what type of use they have had (keep in mind that the classic series race wheel has been in production for nearly 10 years now). even though they were bought used, we offer to exchange/replace any components showing signs of fatigue with new/upgraded parts just as we would to the original owner the wheels. so feel free to call anytime and let us take care of it for you

Holy Cow!!!! I was just about to pull the trigger on some Kinesis wheels. With a statement like that, I REALLY need to consider CCW before I do anything? Impressive service...

When it comes to buying wheels from John, there is no need for hesitation.

Looks like the set I'll be getting. How do you like the RA-1's?
18 x 10 and 18 x 11 ?
275/35WR18 and 305/35WR18 ?

To all of you that have asked, CCW Corsairs 18X10 and 18X11,
Toyo RA1 275/35/18-305/35/18. CCW is a great vendor as shown by their excellent customer service before and AFTER the sale. These wheels fit perfectly without sticking out of the body and there is absolutely no rubbing or intereference with anything. CCW has done their homework and the wheels fit perfectly.
