Default Brake Fluid test data

New Brake Fluid

Brake Fluid After 2 Hours at 265º C (509º F)

Wilwood EXP 600 Plus

THE BEST racing brake fluid - PERIOD.

Wilwood EXP 600 Plus has the highest ERBP dry boiling point of any brake fluid. Compare our 626º F / 330º C against all others. No other fluid provides more protection against heat induced vaporization and fade.

Brand DOT ERBP-Dry Boiling Point
Wilwood EXP DOT 4 626º F / 330º C
AP PRF DOT 4 608º F / 320º C 1*
Castrol SRF DOT 4 590º F / 310º C 2*

Wilwood EXP 600 Plus stays clear longer and is more stable at high temperatures than other high performance fluids.

Wilwood EXP 600 Plus maintains firmer pedal feel from lower compressibility. EXP is engineered for the highest possible resistance to high temperature compressibility.

Wilwood EXP 600 Plus is fully miscible with all other DOT 3 and 4 rated racing fluids. There are no special procedures required, or adverse affects that result from adding EXP into a system formerly filled with other brands of DOT 3 or DOT 4 racing fluids. Just open the lid, and pour it in. By adding EXP, the boiling point of your system will actually increase!

Wilwood EXP Super Hi-Temp Racing fluid has been developed for high-pressure use in extreme temperature racing applications. EXP 600 Plus exceeds all specifications for FMVSS 116 DOT 4, SAE J1703, and ISO 4925. Use of EXP should be restricted to not more than 12 months. In extreme service, best performance is realized by flushing and filling the system with fresh fluid immediately before competition. Always use fluid from a previously unopened container.

417 F wet boiling point according to Wilwood's website. Not bad.

Default Castrol SRF wet boiling pt. is 518 F

Much better than Wilwood. There is more to brake fluids than baking in an oven and color. That does not necessarily prove that a brake fluid is definatively better.

The service life of Castrol SRF is 18 months. Plus I get a liter from my friend for $53. A very good price.

So they change color, so what? Color in of itself is meaningless unless it correlates to some significant change.

For anyone that is a fan of Wilwood 570 Hi Temp. I have two free unopened bottles. You pay shipping. I turned into a Motul 600 user and don't need these.

I've been using the Wilwood 570 for a few years at HPDE's. I haven't boiled it yet. I bleed about every 6 months. 6-12oz bottles from Summit for $36.

Pardon this being on a Porsche site, but they've collected a nice table of this stuff:

http://members.rennlist.com/911pcars/brakefluid.htm

When I've run through the remainder of my Motul I'm thinking the ATE Super Blue looks like a good deal for good fluid.

The wet & dry boiling points on the ATE is much lower than Motul....Motul is what I use and will continue to use.

I used Motul but liked the Wilwood 570 better. The Castrol SRF is a fluid I used for 1000 track miles with no bleed. It did need the bleed then. SRF is a ton less labor.

What is the expected wet boiling point after 18 months of use on average? An individuals car set-up and track configuration will determine certain requirements, but leaving fluid in that long would make me real nervous. I certainly wouldnt recommend this for stock calipers and rotors.

I'm using the Motul RBF600 and quite happy with it. I do bleed a little off after every weekend. Probably paranoid, but it's cheap insurance. I got 4 bottles of it from a friend for $10 each. So I'm not complaining

Not only did the fluids turn dark, but appearantly half of it leaked/evaporated out. How about a test with full containers or evacutaed of all moisture, as it would be inside of a caliper.

I'm sure the EXP is great, but my brakes get a lot hotter than 265, and my AP600 has never turned that dark. I'll stick with AP, it is readily available, and cheap.
