Default Sway Bar Options (R.I.P. T1 Bars)

Now that the famed T1 bars are getting hard to come by, rears are discontinued and fronts are getting hard to find.
What else is out there?

I know Danny (RAFTRACER) likes the ADDCO Bars
32mm front and 26 mm rear.

Hotchkis offers a 32mm front and 26mm rear.

Vette Brakes and Products offers 32mm front and 24mm rear.

I thought I saw a 35mm front somewhere but can't recall who makes it.

But none are quite as beefy as the old T1's 38mm front and 28mm rear

Now I know that some say that bigger isn't always better and I don't want to get into a big discussion as to which bars are the best. I just want to see what else is out there.

There is something to be said about wall thickness, but if you've ever lifted a front T1 bar I have a hard time believing it's hollow, even though I'm told it is.

So since the T1 bars are hard to get what other options are out there that will flatten out a track car like the T1's did?

I was lucky to get one of the last sets for my C5.

I wonder if someone else is going to make a T1 bar replacement. There seems to be still many C5s running SCCA or just getting into HPDEs that will want them.

GMparts direct still lists the T1 bar sets - but not sure if they really have them to sell or not - they are more than $400....

I use the ADDCO stuff, typically 35mm front and 25 or smaller rear bar , depending what the application is..............I have never liked the T1 stuff, obviously mandated by SCCA for T1, but for me
Well maybe I did use the T1 rear bar for a little bit. really helped the car rotate on slower tight autocross courses.

I don't recall where it was, but I remember reading several years ago that Hotchkis mfrs. the T-1 bars for GM. If that's true, maybe they'll continue them as part of their own line if GM drops 'em.

Now with my limited math skills the ADDCO and Hotchkis bars were both described as 1 1/4" which is about 32 mm. Does ADDCO have a bigger front bar than the 1 1/4"?

Danny, I'm looking for a set-up for DE's mostly Road America.

well it looks like the T1 bars that I got for my car do not fit. I heard that GM was trying to make a universal rear sway bar to fit both C5 and C6, but the new bars don't fit around the exhaust of the C5.

I am now looking for another solution

If you got stock T1 bars and haven't altered your exhaust, they will fit.

I got the T1 bars with 3 holes in the rear. I have GHL exhaust. There is plenty of room for the C5 Z06 sways just not the T1. The T1 bar seems to be straight across instead of having the bend in it like the C5 Z06 have.

Weasel

I ran into that also, I ended up sending it back to GM and luckily we found a rear T1 bar. Otherwise you will have to select a slightly smaller rear bar, Hotchkis and ADDCO both make 26 mm bars in place of the 28 mm T1 bar. Otherwise you'll have to track just a rear down.

It looks like the ADDCO bars would be the next best thing. IMO

thanks for the feedback.

Luckily last night someone sent me an email stating that he had a set made Last year that he never used on his car and he was willing to sell them to me.

although I will not have them for WGI this week at least I found a set.

I have to admit the forum is great for these things.

You can get Heavy duty adjustable endlinks from Vette Brakes. I put a set on with my Z06 sways when I had the car corner weighted and they work great.
