Just wondering what the learned folks here see as the top few things I should know about my car, maintenance etc.
Thanks

Basically just do it. You will learn as you go. Make sure your helmet has the proper rating for the local authority. Ask questions. AutoXers are very friendly. Most all will be glad to help. They'll ride with you or let you go with them to help you learn. At first, run your car at 80%. As your skills improve you can go faster. You don't need a drag race start. Get off the line w/ control. The most important thing is to have fun. Get to the track early and walk the track with an experienced drive. Many clubs have a novice walk with one of their best just before the runs start. Again, have fun and realistic expectations. No beer.

I'd say that's the most important thing is to go in ready to learn. Don't be that guy that shows up thinking he knows everything already, i.e. don't let your ego get in the way, just listen and learn.
