New C6Z hats/rotors
Well, since it was mentioned in another thread, here is sneak peak:
They are 15.8 pounds versus 25.5 stock, both 14x1.25 size. FEA analyzed, 100% made in USA of the finest Aerospace grade materials, CNC billet hats, AN (aircraft) fasteners with no threads in shear, available in floating or fixed mount (your choice). The rotors are heat treated and balanced. Note head of fastener is rotationally constrained by hat machining. Stay tuned for further info...

I would be happy to take a set of C5 sizes. I would think the hats are the same!

dealers will sell them so I guess you will need to contact one of the three or four dealers in each area of the country for price.

How do you tighten the hat bolts, or is there a nut on the other side? Also, is that a standard 12 bolt x 7" pattern?

No, this is not a 12x7 pattern, this is a fully new design. Prices will be very competitive with other brands. Dealer agreements are being finalized.

The C6 Z51 is a strange size like 13.4 in diameter, I need to get my hands on one to see. If this hat fits, then it will be easy to change to a 13.4 inch rotor. If the hat needs changing, it will take a little longer but since the hat was done on a solids CAD system, it is like a dozen mouse clicks to change the outer diameter appropriately. We are around a month away from shipping the C6Z 14 inch versions.

A little noise, yes, for the floaters, no for the fixed. I have about 2500 street miles on the floaters, and the noise is very slight, I have to listen for it. The rotors are custom made for us by a US manufacturer to our specs. It is not an off the shelf rotor. The issue here is the C6Z caliper hangs low so other existing 14 inch hat/rotors will not fit (I tried!). The hat is about 8.5 inch diameter and clears the C6Z caliper. It also works with other calipers such as the Wilwood SL6R.
BTW, if anyone wants to see these in person, come to NHIS tomorrow (Monday).

There appears to be quite a bit of rotor between the bottom of the pads (the pad ID) and the hat OD. All of the racing rotors I've bought have been sized so the rotor surfaces is the same width as the pad (typically 40mm for a Superlight style caliper).
Was that because of a constraint on hat OD?

Yes, the caliper hangs low, so there is no choice. That why I spent so much time wouking to keep the weight low, with careful detail machining, and lots of FEA work.
