Default wheel advice

I need to get an extra set of wheels for my '02 ZO6 for track days. I don't need them to accommodate a specific tire, and I expect I will remain on street tires, or DOT track tires. Depending on the tire, obviously this can be done on the factory 17/18 setup, all 17, or all 18. I guess the two options that immediately come to mind, either another set of OE wheels, about $1700 new, or CCWs, a bit more, but still reasonable. What is your advice?

I would think you would want to buy as much as you can afford. Personally, if I were thinking about spending $1700 on wheels, I would just get CCW's

I bought some GS replica's from AFS for much cheaper, but wish I had CCW's.

I agree if you are thinking $1700, get ccws.

I bought another set of OE z06 wheels for $500 from someone on the forum. They had some curb rash, but were true, so I didn't care. They're cheap, people love chromies Down side is then you're stuck with 17/18 combo, and I've had trouble tracking down scrubs in those sizes.

In regard to finding scrubs, and assuming I go with the same diameter on all four, would I be better off with all 17 or 18? And what about widths? If I go with CCW, I'll need to tell John the tire sizes I am considering, realizing there will be some flexibility there. What tire size is run in T1?

Why not run the Z06 rears all the way around-only one size of tire to track down then, and the wheels can be had used for under a grand.

It is awfully hard to beat CCW. I have crashed the hell out of John's wheels and only could bend them, but I have never broken one. I am getting some CCW Corsairs for my new C6Z.

18 x 9.5 wagon wheels all the way around. If you're just having fun at HPDE events they provide lots of flexibility. Light weight, CHEAP - sets on the Forum for around $300, ability to rotate front to rear, left to rear and flip inside to outside for maximum wear. Not the best but not a bad setup.

Toyo or Kumho scrubs are available for $75/tire. Same size tire on all 4 wheels. I run pretty fast for what I've invested

Rick
