How to pick the proper oil filter sandwich adapter? [C4]
I installed a ron davis radiator with integral oil cooler and am now planning the oil cooler portion of the install. I know I need an adapter, lines and fittings, but which adapter is appropriate? How large of lines should I run? What size fitting? Any help for choosing the proper parts is appreciated.
I have a 1990 6-speed coupe with long tube headers.

I used a Canton sandwich with remote oil filter and -10 lines and fittings on my C5. I got a 3-5 pound drop in pressure and added 3.5 qt of oil. Ust lots of heat and abrasion shielding and safety wire
Good luck

I used the Canton adaptor as well. I think my line was #10. Be careful with the SS braided line. It will saw it's way through week old pizza or any thing else it comes in contact with. I used some clear vinyl tubing from Lowe's as a sleeve and have had no trouble. OP runs from low 60's to high 80's

Thanks for the tips!
I've been browsing through Summit on-line and noticed a couple of the oil coolers were running 1/2" line, which appears to be equivilent to -8. If anyone has suggestions on which angle fittings I might need for clearence coming out of the adapter, that would be greatly appreciated. I'll keep searching till I figure it all out, then post back on what I've found.
All suggestions appreciated!!

I purchased the adapter at a local speed shop-its not as nice as the Canton and had a cheesy bypass valve which I removed and plugged. I also added a manual bypass valve so I can bypass the cooler.

During my survey of obstructions for fitting, it appeared straight fittings would work. Thanks for your reply!

Another question:
My 1990 has a stock oil cooler. It appeared to have one line going directly above the filter and a second line going into the side of the engine. Has anyone seen this before? I guess i can plug the fitting at the engine, if there is indeed one there.
thanks everyone!

Best bet will still be to call Canton to be sure.
Regarding lines, based on a pic of the adapter I *think* you'll end up with, you should be able to get by with straight fittings. Here's the pic I'm referring to....
I use -10AN lines with my setup. I know some folks use -8AN lines, but IMO they're a little on the small side. Kind of depends on just how hard you want to push the car. FWIW, the above adapter requires a fitting that's 1/2" NPT on one end (goes into the adapter) and -10AN on the other end for the Aeroquip or similar line fitting to attach to.

On an L98, I'm assuming your eliminating the stock, preheater.
On LT1/4's we need a special adapter since the cats are so close.
The other alternative in either case is a remote filter, that gets it away from all that engine heat.
