Default Are you looking for a new engine/set up....??

Take a look at Katech's new offerings.
I could be like a little kid in a candy shop.

John Shiels - one of these has your name on it!

Wow

This thread dropped like a rock.

The availability of major HP and TQ, in the form of crate engines, doesn't excite everyone around here??

They have a vid up of the Street Attack LS7 on the dyno. Hopefully they'll post a vid of the sleeper 5.7 @ 8000 rpm ->http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=488404

Not for those prices $12000 ?!?!

I'll find an LS6 in a junk yard barely used, drop in an G5x3, blow up two of them and break even.

I assume their 450 rating is at the crank.

I used to really like Katech, but their prices have gotten out of control since they started doing the Cadillac WC engines. My last engine cost twice what they charged for earlier engines (same basic specs), AND they were over a month late getting it to me.

I'd love to drop one of those Scoggin-Dickey 402's in my street car, however. I'm with 95jersey, a G5x3, a set of GM/Lingenfelter heads, and you're own your way for less than half the money!

Joel give me your credit card with your name on it I want to go faster but really need a cage first if I spend more money. I'll be looking at at a LS7 crate modded or even a LS2 402 stroker built up for less than those prices

I don't eat all the candy I see!

Don't you have a cage?
I think the 402 from SDPC is a great buy!

I'd have to agree with Dave -Katech is very pricey.....they have mega overhead.

I love looking at all the HP candy.

I agree, completely. But the TQ remains low on the LS6. 500+ lb.ft. is a short punt for a 427.

I'd have someone build one with a nice parts and no Eagle/Chinese crank. I just need some excess money. I just spent money on business needs which is not as much fun. I'll wait to see a LS7 conversion cost into a C5. We can all dream

I talked to Jason about that engine a month ago.

it was a destroked C5R block to 5.7L 580 HP, 450-470 TQ between 5000-6500 rpms This engine design was the one of the original for the Caddy CTSV.r WCGT cars

Cam was 239/251 570/570 with 106 LSA.

I agree with David, good looking engines but too damn expesive.

I have some one local who will build me a C5R motor even with Katech heads ( which may be the best flowing heads and best combustion chamber designe). I have most of their cam specs too.

I think Cage first, then motor this next fall winter. Come on Lotto.

I don't know...people with G5X3 and heads are getting 420rw tq. I would say that is close to 500 at the crank. Even if you were talking about 500rw tq. I don't think it's worth more than double the price. But, I don't have the money like some on the forum, so maybe double is no big deal? Put some 3:73's or 3:90's and you'll bring those tq figures up even more.

I think the benefit of the 427 would be more power down lower with better street manners.

No replacement for cubes. Bigger motor would require more talent to use at the track in any case. Different rear end will not get you more torque.
