The Winged Warrior Performance Challenge
I'm pleased to announce that on June 3rd 2006, just outside Indianapolis we will be hosting the Winged Warrior 2 Performance Challenge competition and car show. As one of the organizers, I'd love to see some of my fellow corvette brethren out there.
This is a free (donation only) event for the benefit of the Riley Hospital for Children. 100% of entry donations will go toward the hospital. It'll be a full day of racing, family fun, and and show cars. We're not making a dime off this, but we do want to make some ill children smile.
So what exactly will the event consist of?
- AutoCourse (an autocross with both low and high speed sections)
- Skidpad
- Drag Race
- 0 - 60mph (timed on the same pass as the drag race)
- Slalom
- 100mph - 0mph Braking
- Car Show (performance cars will be scored, but their show score does not affect the performance challenge results)
....and one surprise event for the top ten cars from the previous 7 events, to be announced on race day.
*We will also conduct a separate car show independent of the performance challenge.
The event has an import vs domestic flair to it, with 120 total competitors (60 import and 60 domestic). In all honesty, we're all on the same team here to help make a good donation for the Children at Riley, but I want to see a strong domestic turnout to win the challenge as well.
So who enters? What are the classes? Other questions?

C'mon guys, I wanted to recruit a few fellow track junkies first before I mentioned the event elsewhere.
No strings attached, just a good time and a lot of events that you might not otherwise have access to try.

We will do a shotgun start with 6 stations and 20 cars at each station. The cars will rotate every 75 minutes, the last 20 minutes or so giving the kids from the children's hospital rides.

That particular weekend (6/3), most serious autocrossers in the midwest will be at the SCCA National ProSolo in Peru, Indiana (not far away). That is the only ProSolo event in the area this year. The following weekend (6/10) might get a better turnout, at least for autocrossers.
The event does sounds like a total blast, and helping out kids is great!

Good to meet you this weekend Bob.
We also wish the SCCA wouldn't have an event that weekend, but honestly we had the date set before the SCCA schedule showed up.
We promise to put on the better show.

You can visit Putnam or an Autocross 30x this summer, nothing new, nothing different. There will only be one event with all the events above.

Going to be a busy weekend/early week in Indiana. NCCC @ Putnam Solo 1 style, SCCA Pro Solo @ Peru, Winged Warrior Shootout-out, NCM HPDE @ Putnam....................
Probably be easier just to stay @ Putnam all weekend............
We had a blast @ Putnam yesterday, cant wait until the "new" car is done.

Go ahead over to the site and fill out the app, J.
Took a step in the right direction for OLOA Friday. Now as long as I don't keep adding things to the car on Danny's lift we may be in business. Will the fajitavette return for Putnam this year (remember your fajita bar in the hatch at IRP in 2003?)

Putnam and the Fajita's...Unlikely but I am betting we will be eating a fair amount Pablos over the length of the race. Especially since it's one of Danny's favorites.

I've heard we may have an "in" at Pablos.
Sign up guys, we need more vettes. I'd like to see more from the home team over here.

Good times this past weekend. Thanks to those who came by, almost everyone agreed it was one of the best courses they had ever run, and everyone agreed they had never seen this many nice cars autocrossing at one location.
Here's a link to a TON of photos.
