Default Putnam Park hotel

As I was booking my hotel room today for the May 20/21 NASA event at Putnam Park, it made me wonder if anyone has considered where they'll stay for the NCM event June 5/6. Soooo....is there a "preferred" Corvette hotel? If so, I figure I may as well book it now.

Where did you find rooms for Putnam? I think that is the weekend of the local college graduation.

Thanks
James

Holiday Inn Express in Cloverdale is the usual hotel of choice for the track events. There is a link to it from the Putnam Park home page. I have stayed there many times over the last 5 years and it is a good/convenient spot. Right off the exit.

I was checking to see what hotel had openings. I have called a few and nobody seems to have rooms available at that exit. I guess it's back to Plainfield that weekend.

AMERICA'S BEST VALUE INN-CLVRDLE (50 RMS) (765)795-6900

As of yesterday they were down to their last couple of rooms. As you mentioned, that weekend is Graduation weekend for a local college in addition to being a NASA race weekend.

I just found this Autocross/Roadrace section. I am a real novice when it comes to roadracing and I signed up for the HPDE as soon as I found out about it. I did go kart racing school about 15 years ago and solo raced my 94 ZO7 with AutoTrans in 94 . I am impressed with how many Forum members are racers. I want to learn how to drive my 6 speed Z51 C6 fast. Have any of you gone to the other NCM driving classes?
I signed up for the beginners level class. If anyone has. been to the classes please let me know more about how they were conducted and what to expect
On the subject of hotels. I made reservations the day ROC e-mailed the hotel names. If there are only 20 room left it looks like a good turnout for the HPDE. I am looking forward to meet Forum members that are racers.

Welcome aboard.

I think the sticky at the top of this section has a lot of good info. The HPDEs run by the PCA, BMW, Audi, et al are all very similar so you might want to cruise some of their websites as well.

Going fast is a by-product of being smooth, consistent, understanding the line, etc. Then there's a little thing called "seat time, seat time, seat time"

You mention "solo racing". Do you mean high-speed, one car at a time on a road course or dodging cones in the parking lot?

See you in June!

Thanks for the welcome & the advice.
Yes on the Solo racing. My 94 ZO7 with auto.trans. was really good for that. Everything I have ever road raced had auto. trans. I want to learn to down shift properly etc. that is related to the 6 speed.

Check the Super 8 Hotel in Cloverdale. 765 795 7373. It's adjacent to the Citgo Travel Plaza with lots of trailer parking in front. We're there the weekend prior for a NCCC event. Will try to lay some rubber down for ya.
