Things that make you go Hmmmmm
Dang afternoon naps make me think too much.
Buy a C6 Z for 70-85 Large, depending markup
OR
a C6 Z51 with PADDLE SHIFTERS,
And
take out the LS2 repace with LS7 plus dry sump
take off Z51 suppension and put on C6 T1
PLUS
AP Racing Alcon or Stoptech 6/4 pot BBKs
AND Ron Davis radiator and better oil and trans coolers.
Things that make one go Hmmmmmm.

well its not a true "paddle" shifter. its just a 6 speed auto that lets you change gears electronically. its not the same kind of system ferrari/bmw/audi/lambo are using.

Not worth taking a high dollar car C6 or C6Z and hacking it up. Better to put a high powered LS2 and brakes in a C5. New Z will be 75 then you need to make it track ready Modded cars are worth squat.

If you get the Z51, why not send it off to Lingenfelter or someone? They can get you more ponies than the stock LS7 for less money than a crate LS7 I bet. Does the dry sump really buy much except slightly lower center of gravity?

Or buy a C5 Z06 for $30k and put $20k into it and have a car that is quicker, brakes better, handles better and cost $20k less than all the options you are talking about.
The interior is nice but not $20k better.

The latest HPTuners software can control the new 6spd auto TCM. That trans will also respond to traditional 'transgo' tyle modifications as well. Both should improve shifting response dramatically. If you can manage the heat the trans will generate, it could be lots of fun, plus be faster on the street as well. With the right torque converter, you can program it to stay locked up most of the time, much like the AMG speedshift trans (auto) strategy.
LG's already shown in some other threads where a cam/intake/headers LS2 matches stock LS7 output. Now all you need are brakes and a nice suspension underneath.

Yup that is not a problem. Ketech can build me a LS 2 with plenty of HP to the ground and road race reliabilty, for what ever that is worth.
I know a few ppl at DEI. They said sure they can build me a 350 with 700-900 HP too and it would be lots of fun to put one of the DEI road race Nascar motors used at Sonoma or the Glen into a Corvette.

I think that you could swap drivetrain and suspension parts in your C5 and come up with something really potent for less money than a C6 Z06. And it would outlast it on the track. Unless you think the C6 body style looks so much better than your C5 it is just a shell. But an expensive one.

Not in bad shape now. Little over 400hp and 410tq to the ground now. T1 suppension and oil cooler and accusump and trans coolers. On fresh tires I run slow T1 speeds at VIR. Can do consitant 2:15-2:17s and T1 speeds are 2:11s to 2:09s I take it easy and the car has more to go.
So just need a cage.
