RA in April, watch out for black ice in the morning... espcially on your way to Canada Corner. Are they running the chicane before the kink? Either way, I bet it will be a blast!

I'll be instructing at Gingerman on Saturday the 8th- might need snow tires... Can't wait to get the season under way.... F1 starts in 6.5 hours!!!

Yup, we use it at the Windy City BMW School. It's pretty annoying actually, but that was when I had the Spec Miata... With the Corvette it should be fun to shoot out of there.

The MFBA will be running the normal track configuration, the chicane will not be used.

Spots are still available. Sign up at http://roadamerica.fbody.us

I'm looking forward to running RA again. I've been running the MFBA event since 01' but I had to miss last year.

It will also be the 1st time for the new Z06 to stretch its legs on those 4500' straights (or atleast full throttle areas).

The Badger Bimmers have a much less flattering name for the Windy City chapter because of decisions like this. I guess it's better than running a speed limit at the Kink and enforcing it with a radar gun like they used to do.

Speed Limit???? What is with BMW clubs?? down here there is a chapter that still wants to limit speeds to 100 or less, even on long straights.

By the way, what kind of speeds are you hot shots getting going around the carrocel ( sp?)??

Come on Tom one of these years you'll have to make the trek up here to magic land of beer and brats at a good old fashion horsepower track.
The Badger Bimmer event is the only 3 day event at RA this year.

I'll get you some good video next weekend. I already have some good tape from last October. PM me an adress and I'll send you a DVD. That way you can get the full experiance. Some of my customers are getting a system that will show speed, RPM, g's etc right on the video.

Who's all signed up for the event? I'm #96 in advanced. Looking forward to it.

Tom,

I only found a few and it looks like most are two day events.

Sat. & Sun. July 29-30 Road America (Midwest Council) – HPDE
Sat. & Sun. August 5-6 Road America (Northwood’s Cobra Club) – HPDE
Sun - Tue September 17-19 Road America (Audi Club Badger Region) – HPDE This looks like a 3 dayer
Sat. & Sun. October 7-8 Road America (Alfa Romeo Club/Drivers Concepts) - Drivers School
Sat. & Sun. October 14-15 Road America (Midwest F-body) – HPDE
Sat. & Sun. October 21-22 Road America (NASA Midwest) – HPDE

Try to get back to the best 4.2 miles in America

Here's a link to all the Midwest area track events. Maybe you could do a Midwest tour and work your way up to RA

Thats guys.

That Mid Sept Audi maybe. My buddy wants to get some work done on his ZR1 so he would drop it off in Chi-town after a Road America event.

Well if it cant work out may have to rent the track myself and send out a big invite to Midwest track junkies.

and when did Road America become 4 point TWO miles?? it was always 4 miles in the 60s and 70s.
Rember VIDEOS PLEAZE, Even a DVD copy of some great runs would be appreciated.

Thanks again guys and have a great event.

Tom

The speed limit was for the Kink and it's only the Windy City chapter of the BMWCCA. As soon as they opened up the new chicane before the Kink, Windy City started using it for their RA event.

Badger Bimmers is nothing like Windy City. Badger Bimmers event at RA is pretty cool actually.

Roc and I would Love to do Road America for the NCM. PPL and time are the limiting factor. We have two events for 2006, Putnam Park in early June and back at Carolina Motorsports Park the end of Oct.

Getting weekends on the popluar tracks is almost imposible. During the week is a bit easery to get the track, but getting instructors is a challange during the week as like all of us we have jobs to support our habbit.

Roc knows the ppl that own R America very well and loves going up there to do the Corvette Paddock for the ALMS. We though about tagging on a Corvette HPDE right after the ALMS and putting a package together for a WEEK at Road America, tickets to the ALMS, paddock pass AND the Corvette HPDE. SO we will see. Opps maybe I let the horse out of the barn too soon.

Events take planning, ppl and money. Tracks are not cheap to rent. Planning events are the easy parts, then getting the instructors and students. The NCM wants to make a little money on the event, breaking even is ok but a making a little is better. Cant do events if you loose money. ( and since Roc and I are both a little annal on event details finished way in advance - ) that way we just walk around the event and ask if ppl are having a good time ( customer service). and do a little driving.

So we will see after Putnam Park. We have many Corvette Engineers as students and Tom Wallace as an instructor. Non drive time talking with all the engineers will be good learning for all the participants.

Oh sorry about the High jack.
