Good find...

However, (I hate to be a pain) it doesn't look like the car is going to have a turbo. I didn't see turbos weren't mentioned in the article. Given the HP and torque specs mentioned in the article, I would guess a N/A twin cam'er that spins 7000 - 8000 rpm. 90 hp a liter and the low(ish) torque numbers make me think that. That seems to be in line with the N/A motors from Honda and BMW.

Of course if I missed some sarcasm in the headline, I apologize....

Turbos and factory warrenties don't go together at all. That maybe why they went away from the inline 6 and turbocharging.

I think what the origional poster is saying is that after all these years of saying who great FI is, they're seeing the light and going to a good old N/A V8 for power.

It is going to be interesting to see what the final wieght is.

ie) ZR1's were great cars, but man those cams made for one heavy engine.

Turbos can be fun. I made 2.67 horsepower per cubic inch. 110 octane is a good thing. My stupid rod didn't hold up when my friend-racing buddy ran it to 8500 rpm. This is not a vette just something I have a bit of fun with.

I ran a turbo charge car for years. Can you say an easy reliabe and streetable 400+ HP out of a 2.0L 4 cylinder? I have seen many with a reliable 400-600 HP on the DSM/EVO platform. Supra's back in the day could easily put down 600 HP without breaking a sweat.

That being said though I was never a fan of the supra as they were much heavier than the mitsubishi's and the handling was poor too.

The nice thing about factory turbo cars is that its not too expensive to upgrade the turbo, injectors, and up the boost for more HP.

All that aside, I still like my vette the best!

My MKIV Supra had tremendous handling. .98G on the pad and excellent control. I have never driven a car before, or since where you could brake so deep into corners. The overall feel was in-inspiring, however...almost too competent. The RX-7s were much more exciting to drive, so I went back to those.

I am taking this new car seriously. Even if it weighs 3,450lb like the old one did, it will still give the Z51 C6 a run for the money, at a good price, with that 450HP. The 3.0L engine in the MKIV was incredibly heavy and overbuilt iron block. The new engine will be all alloy. If it is really priced in that range, I would be tempted. We'll see.
