Zaino questions...Not impressed so far
I did the dawn wash, then clayed the car with another wash after. Found many small scratches I think I might have done with the clay bar. Not Zaino's problem, but still mad at myself. I used lots of lubricant but did not work the clay bar often enough and my 2000 hood had lots of stuff on it. Anyway, the hood is baby soft now and then per advice of others applied my first coat of Z5. I forgot to add the ZFX so I had to wait 6 hours. Well needless to say I was not able to do another coat but after looking at the car it looks good but not any better than the Meguairs Gold class I used before. Not only that but the scratches the Z5 promised to cover are not covered. Here's my question(s)
1. Do I need multiple coats of Z5 to notice any real difference
2. After mixing Z5 & ZFX, how long can it sit in the bottle before needing to be applied. I was waxing at work and came home for a small emergency. I mixed the two and they have been in the bottle for 24 hours...can I still use it?
Thanks for any help

Multiple coats of Z-5 should help.
24 hours may be too long.
I think it's 8 or 12 hours.
I'm not a fan of claying.
I'll stay with paint cleaners.
A friend of mine did a number on black paint and used plenty of lubricant.

If you appled the Z5 after the Dawn wash without using Z1 or ZFX then the Z5 will not cure properly. I would advise washing and then applying Z1 or the ZFX/Z5 mixture and you will be OK. The ZFX mixture lasts about 6hrs in the bottle. As long as it does not begin to seperate or harden you will be OK.

What color is your car?
I know with silver, the Zaino didn't really 'light up' until 3 or 4 coats. Keep going!

The car is Torch Red...I just applied a second coat of Z5 w/ ZFX so I'll see if it's any better.
The Zaino website said I didn't need ZFX but I would have to wait 6 hours to reapply without it in above 70 degrees and 24 hours to reapply in under 70 degrees. I'm guessing that's the curing time.

Thats why I switched from Zaino to Pinnacle Souveran...no waiting between coats and a better shine in my opinion.

That being said, I continue to try others. NXT was so-so, and I am impressed with Wolfgang Concours so far. If your looking for a proven sealant, might wanna try Klasse also. Zaino is very good when done correctly, but it does take some time to get it right. (Cure time, amount used, finish prep)

Re: Zaino questions...Not impressed so far...nevermind!
O.K., I've got 2 coats of Z5 and 1 of Z2 and I totally retract any negative implications of Zaino...WOW, the car looks incredible. I took it out for a quick drive and couldn't believe the evening reflection I got parked in a lit parking lot. The Meguiars Gold Class I had on there was nothing. I'm sold. I also read some independent tests posted in another thread that picked Zaino as their choice....ZAINO FOR LIFE! :auto: :hurray:
