Used Palmolive to strip the wax in preparation of Zaino....Question
My Mom just got an 04' Grand Cherokee so being the good son that I am :D I offered to wax it in preparation for the upcoming Winter.
She didn't have Dawn, but I figured Palmolive would work the same, and after I washed the car, clayed, etc. The water was still beading up, as if it was just waxed. She told me they waxed it at the dealership beofre she took it off the lot. Did the Palmolive strip the wax? I applied the Zaino anyway, and it came out great. I'm just concerned about durability.

Look on the label to see the alkaline content. Dawn has a reputation for a high alkaline content, which is what actually "strips" the old wax. If it has no or a small content then it would not "strip" what was on the surface.

It depends a lot on what they used to 'wax' it at the dealership. Some dealers will throw on a polymer sealant, others may just use a cheap wax. If it was really wax, you probably got it off with the Palmolive.. Brand new paint will bead water even without wax.
