Looking for Zaino tips
I'll be in my first show next weekend. I'm washing the Vette with Dawn dish soap to remove the wax. Then I'm suppost to clay bar it. What is a good lubricant to use with the clay bar? I have the accelerator, the show car polish #2, and the gloss enhancer. After clay bar procedure, what is next?

Re: Looking for Zaino tips (Strick)
I used the clay bar on mine a couple of weeks ago, it was a lot easier than I thought. I used an Instant detail spray that came with the clay bar. After I washed the car with Dawn, I left the water on it and sprayed the lubricant on as I went. I found the Mothers clay bar kit at Pep Boys on Cherry rd in Rock Hill, about 17 bucks for the kit. BTW, where is the car show around here?

Get yourself a spray bottle, like an old glass cleaner (washed thoroughly) and add 1 capful of the Z7 Show Car Wash and fill with water. As you complete each section, couple square feet, use an old clean towel to wipe off the residue. When your working on the vertical sides, place an old clean towel down on the floor beneath your working area, that way if the bar slips and falls from your hand it doesn't get contaminated. Assuming you got the Zaino clay bar after you unwrap them there is a piece of protective plastic on one side, I try to keep it intact as long as possible so you have one good clean side before you flip it over. I usually can get about half the car done before I have to flip it over, and nearly all done before I have to start pulling it and stretching it to make a clean side. Of course I've done mine several times so there is less contaminants on it now. If this is the first which it sounds like you may go through both bars the first time.
Afterwards, re-wash the Vette with Z7.
Here's a link below to a pdf in which I compiled all of Sal Zaino's notes and tips.
I'll presume you bought most of the products, so before applying the Show Car Polish Z2 or Swirl Mark Polish Z5, apply the Polish Pre-Lock Z1. Don't remove it, after it hazes apply the Polish. I would recommend since its for a show, apply two coats. And touch-it up right before with the Ultra Gloss Enhancer Z6.
Good luck at your show.

Re: Looking for Zaino tips (Dilligas)
Hey Dilligas, The show is the Auto Fair at Lowes Motor Speedway on the 13th and 14th Sep. Look for the Race City Gang under the Tower Seats on Sat and somewhere near the Legends track in the infield on Sunday. You think we'll have good weather?

I forgot about the Auto Fair this weekend :banghead: . I will have to try and make it up there. If the rain will hold off it should be a great weekend.

Re: Looking for Zaino tips (Southern Comfort)
Southern Comfort, it took about 45 minutes to claybar the car. I washed with Dawn, used the clay bar then washed again. I am going to try to attatch a picture of the car after using the clay bar, but before any wax.

Re: Looking for Zaino tips (Alchemist)
Progress. I've washed it with Dawn and clayed it using 1/2 cap of Z-7 car wash and water in a spray bottle as a lub, re washed it and dryed her off. I mixed an oz of the Z-2 polish and accelerator and polished 1 coat on the Vette. I must say, it was very easy to put on and buff off. Nice shine, but I think the shine comes from the preparation (clay). I really like NO POWDER RESIDUE left. This alone makes it worth it. I have 2 more coats to put on. How many onces do you use to complete one coat on yor Vettes?
