Default What's going on with my paint?

I had my '80 painted about a year ago by a Vettes-only shop using base coat/clearcoat catalyzed urethane. About three months ago, I took it to a car wash (hand wands only) washed and rinsed it thoroughly, then used the "spot free" rinse. The problem is, a number of cloudy areas appeared, especially on the hood & tops of fenders.
Since it was 71 outside today, I washed it again with the same results. I tried my Meguiars cleaner wax on a small area, but it didn't seem to afect the cloudiness, and didn't help the surface shine the way it did before I had the car painted.
I also tried my Meguiars #26 (recommended by painter) on a small area with disappointing results.
These are products I've used before with good results. Anyone wanna chime in on what the problem might be? :banghead:

High solid urethane clears are very porus, and become more so when the bodyshop, detailer or owner colorsands and buffs them.

Only the top .5 mil of the clear is really dense, once that is removed by colorsanding or over agressive buffing, the dense portion is removed and then moisture migrates into the clearcoat.

It will evaporate out, or you can flush the area with some plain old rubbing alcohol, which works as a drying agent and pulls the mositure out.

Try using a quality sealant, one that uses a solvent as it's carrier, not a water based typed of sealant.

Let it cure for at least 2 hours then wipe off the indicators, keep the vehicle from being flushed with water for 3 to 7 days, so the air can complete the crosslinking.

Then, apply another coat and do the same.

It may help, but then if too much clear film build has been removed, may not, you will just have to live with it.

To test out my advice, take a hair dryer and on medium heat, gentely heat the area, about 165 to 170F max and watch the cloudiness go away.
