I only use cotton myself, but you should wash them just like any other clothes but only use liquid detergent, no powder.

Seperate from all other towels or fabrics, warm water only, no bleach, dry on air tumble.

You may use what ever laundry detergent you wish, no softeners though.

We have distributed these towels to professional detailers, etc for 3 years and that is the process.

I haven't washed mine yet but these are the greatest towels in the world for removing wax and not scratching. I can't believe it. I have used a lot of other types of towels, including diaper cloths. The microfiber towels just make the job so easy!

Only wash MFs together, no other materials...Hot water... Liquid detergent... No fabric softener...Double rinse...AND I also put a drop of dishwashing liquid in the load. I heard it helped.

Good advice. :yesnod: I'll just add a few things: be careful not to place any terry/bath type towels in with the microfiber towels - they will pick up the lint from the terry towels, and then you might as well use your expensive microfiber towels to clean the bathroom. :(

I also take washing one step further by separating my microfiber towels by application. For example, the ones that are used on the finish and glass are washed by themselves; the ones that are used on the leather, dash, doorpanels, etc. are washed by themselves, and the ones that see duty on the rims/tires and engine area are washed by themselves. No mixing of towels is allowed - I don't want any possible sharing of grit, thank you. :nonod:

Warm water wash, liquid laundry detergent (powder detergents may not dissolve completely in the wash water and can then become embedded in the towels and rubbed onto your finish) low dryer heat setting, no liquid fabric softener and no dryer sheets (they typically contain wax, which can be tranferred to your finish and cause cloudiness).

High quality microfiber, if taken care of properly, will last a long time. Enjoy them. :auto:

I think I've contaminated my washing machine by washing old wax-loaded towels and greasy rags in the washing machine. Any products to decontaminate the washtub?

Not that hard!

Run a cycle with your normal detergent and a cup or two vinegar, no fabics, no towels, just the soap and vinegar, it will break loose any wax/silicone left in the washing machine and put it down the drain.

Each of our shops do a minimum of 4 loads a day, glass towels seperate, paint towels seperate, "grunge" towels seperate, and at the end of the day, I have them run a cycle such as I am saying, it reduces the concerns greatly, and since you are only doing one or two vehicles, vs 100 vehicles, should do the trick.
