Best for cleaning Black Tar/ Road Stuff on Mufflers
Hi all,
What is the consus on a product I can pick up at Pep Boys on a Sunday?
Black, almost like small rocks, that sick to the mufflers. Road tar perhaps. Does everyone know what i am trying to descripe? With a finger nail some of these black dots can be flicked off, yet a black surfacve stain remains.
Would enamel reducer get rid of this stuff? Burbon and water?

Tarmenator did not work.
The tar specks...if that is what... is on titanium mufflers.
The heat/ cooking may be an issue. Additionally, I did not try tapeing a soaked rag to the muffler...I just follow the directions.
Will try kerosene.

You might try 3M weatherstrip remover. It removes any type of adhesive without damaging the paint and may work on removing the tar.

3M Adhesive Remover in the red and white can is the best thing I have ever used for this type of road gunk.
