Default Underhood cleaners

I'm currently cleaning up an 86 coupe that had been neglected by previous owners. The engine and tranny are out of the car. I want to clean the underside of hood, wheelwells, splashguards, firewall, etc. What works on these articles? Thanks

Start with diluted Simple Green and go to more aggressive cleaners if necessary. I used Castrol Super Clean Degreaser on the suspension and other really greasy areas and then Simple Green or CD2 engine cleaner on everything else. I treated most surfaces with CD2 Engine Detailer when I was through and it looked like new.

Are there specific instructions as to how much it should be diluted?

I have some diluted by 50% & some diluted by 25%. I start with the 50% & go from there. 50% seems to handle most general cleaning.

Thanks, I'll try that. Over the weekend, I also tried white vinegar and it didn't do too bad, but it has it's own odor.

I like Castrol Super cleaner and a spray bottle, you can very the consentration and just rinse it off with the hose. It does not take the shine of of the engine or suspension paint. Once its clean just spray a light mist and hose down to keep it clean.

Use Simple Green. The directions are right on the bottle.
