Re: Mequiar's Gold Class does it--- (RockeVette95)
I've used multiple coats of Gold Class. I don't know the solvent content so I can't say for sure if it really layers. I didn't notice any improvement in shine with several coats. Although many people seem to like Gold Class, I found it was just ho-hum. I prefer Mother's Reflections as an alternative polymer wax to Zaino.
Re: Mequiar's Gold Class does it--- (RockeVette95)
I've found Gold Class works pretty well, but I don't think it layers. If you're into wax - Pinnacle Souveran is worth a shot - looks better than Gold Class, and I notice a slight improvement with a 2nd coat. :seeya
Well from what I've learned Gc is a polymer not a wax. I have Zaino on the
Vette and Gold Class on the Suburban. Sitting side by side the Suburban is as shiny or maybe more and the depth of the color is greater. So I'm really torn it seems like I'm always having to call in Zaino and wait several days and I can get GC anywhere it also seems to fill in minor swirls better. This could all be my imagination but GC seems to last just as long also. Sooo I was just wondering if GC polymer would layer.
Re: Mequiar's Gold Class does it--- (RockeVette95)
Multiple layers will create a deeper shine. Wax DOES layer, the more that is applied the better the protection and beading. I have waxed cars for YEARS and this is a fact that I have proven myself. The more layers of wax you apply, the better the protection and the deeper the shine whether at once or over time. I have no idea where some people get the notion that this is not the case. I have read multiple books and experienced it myself. I am not going to say one product is better than the other, but I want to dispell this MYTH that wax doesnt last. I have done it, proven it, and you can give me your car and I will SHOW you. Man, sorry, rant off :D
BTW - my experience is with the Meguiars carnuba waxes, not the polymers...I dont like em. :nono:
Re: Mequiar's Gold Class does it--- (VetteBoy1979)
I have over 30 coats of Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax on my car and it is by far the shiniest vehicle in my area bar none and it is a daily driver :yesnod: :yesnod:
Does it get slicker with each coat? Do you have any pic's I've seen lots of cars with a gazillion coats of Zaino but not Gold Class.

I do Gold Class then top with #26. Can't be more happy plus I don't get the waterspots that I got with Zaino. I still like Z6 and think its the best but I'm a Mequiar's convert.

My shops used Meguiar's products for over 10 years, many cars came back with water spots. :(

Sorry but I had a serious waterspot problem until I switched. I still get them but they wipe off with no problem. I would have never switched but I got tired of fighting the problem. My car sits out 24 hours a day and bakes in the Fl sun. The EB shows the spots more than my previous Torch Red. I also think the car looks better. Since I wax every 3 or so weeks (Its my hobby :D ) durabililty isn't a question.
Pooch, good work. Any car that sits outside needs to be taken care of a great deal. I myself, used to wax my truck at once a month. Go big M!
