Best product to use to get all the old wax etc off my paint ???

Whats the best thing to use to get the old wax off my paint so I have the paint clean and ready for what ever I decide to put on ???I,m new to this section Zaino seems very popular...ha ha :yesnod: When I tried to use the clay bar it seemed to smear and not flow across the paint ..The previous owner of my zr1 stated he used some type of butter wax and had lots of coats on the car....

Wash your car with Dawn once or twice and your wax will be gone, then mix up some car wash (1-2 capfuls per 16 ozs of water) in a spray bottle and spray the car, then clay (use Zaino, Mother's or Clay Magic clay bars) and you can apply your favorite polish/wax to your car.
