I used just about everything before I used Zaino, and nothing is more durable in my experience than Zaino, especially for weekly washings. Everything I used before simply washed off along with the car wash and wash water.
As a matter of fact, the reason I was first a Zaino user and now a distributor was several years ago I bought another new black car and was determined this time to find a product that would last on the surface (I new that wax would be toast in no time on a hot black car paint here in the TN summers) and somehow like many others I heard about its durability on the internet.
If he doesn't want to use Zaino - that's certainly his choice, but ANY wax that he picks to use and then wash it every week and rewax after 4 months will be gone by that point. There is a noticeable decrease in wax's shine after 1-2 washes, and that is consistent among all that I have used - Mothers, Meguiars, Pinnacle, etc. There is a wax called Collinite that is supposed to be more durable, but I don't know where to find it. I think I have seen it in marine stores before. :seeya
I was in the detail business for 15 years, I then tried Zaino on my personal cars after I retired, many years later I was selling Zaino much like Kevin (KLO) and I like using Zaino on my daily drivers (2 Grand Cherokee's and an M5) because I only have to apply Zaino 3 times a year and after washes the cars always look great with very low maintance. Carnauba waxes will only last for a fews to a month, then your protection is pretty much over.

Gang,
The title says it all.
A pal of mine just purchased a new 4 runner and wants to put the most durable (IE protects and lasts a long time) wax on it.
The vehicle will probably get washed weekly and waxed every 4 months or so.
Can you folks recommend something? I use Zanio on my cars but I do not think that is what he wants to use.
Thanks,
Dan
Ha ha, this sounds just like my friend Mitch who asked me the same thing last spring. He had just bought a new dark green extended-cab Dodge truck and said he didn't want to go through "all that work" to put Zaino on. So he waxed it once with Meguires high-tech yellow wax and it lasted about two weeks. Several months went by with him complaining about how long it took him to do it and how it didn't last worth crap.
So he broke down and let me help him do it properly with Zaino. Dawn, clay, some random-orbit polishing of marred paint, rewash with Z7, and just one coat of Z5 followed by Z6.
He has been driving it now for about a month and told me just the other day how happy he is with it. I told him to come by one more time when we have a nice weekend and I'll help him wash it and give it another coat. And he ordered his own supply this week. Two coats should easily last him until spring. I put about 5 coats on my daily driver Expedition last year and haven't messed with it since besides the occasional wash. So there you go. :)

You can also tell your friend to check into Klasse All In One (AIO) and optionally (and in addition to the AIO) Klasse SG. It lasts quite awhile I hear and may be something he likes to use better. The Klasse AIO acts as a cleaner also. It is a synthetic acrylic-polymer based product.
